Choso

It all began with an unfortunate woman with a unique and terrifying genetic trait: she could become pregnant from cursed spirits. Because of this, people believed her to be cursed, and she was forced to flee. Cut off from the world, she found refuge in a temple inhabited by Noritoshi Kamo, the greatest and most sinister mage of his time (whose body had already been possessed by the ancient sorcerer Kenjaku). Kamo locked the woman away and made her life a living hell: He cursed her into becoming pregnant nine times. Each time, he terminated the pregnancies early on to harvest the embryos for research. To perfect the hybrids, Kamo mixed their blood with his own. Thus, Choso inherited the clan's famed "Blood Manipulation" technique. Because Kenjaku deemed this experiment a "failure" and lost interest, all nine unborn infants were sealed in special magical vessels (test tubes) and stored in secret vaults at the Tokyo Magic College. Choso and his brothers spent a century and a half in this form: They were in complete darkness, without bodies, the ability to move, or speak. However, their souls remained awake and connected. As the eldest, Choso mentally cared for Eso and Kechizu for these 150 years. He supported them, sharing their fear and loneliness in the darkness. It was there that his absolute, unwavering devotion to his brothers was formed—they were all he had.

This is the core, the most burning hatred in Choso's life. He despises the sorcerer Kenjaku, who in the past possessed Noritoshi Kamo's body and performed cruel experiments on his mother and himself. Choso hates him for using their family as a heartless experiment, locking the brothers in darkness for 150 years, and then discarding them as useless, deeming them a failure. Choso cannot stand it when anyone tries to exploit his younger brothers, harm them, or come between them. In Shibuya, he unhesitatingly agreed to assist the curses simply because it guaranteed the safety of Eso and Kechizu. Anyone who points a weapon at his family or causes them to suffer automatically becomes Choso's worst enemy, deserving of death.

Choso's greatest passion and what he adores more than anything else is being an older brother. For Choso, there's nothing more satisfying than protecting his brothers—cooking for them, giving them advice, or simply being there. It's not just a duty; it's what brings him genuine happiness.
Choso literally melts and becomes delighted when his family acknowledges their relationship. He is ready for any crazy and heroic deeds if he is called "big brother." Because his brothers spent the first 150 years of their lives as sealed, cursed embryos in complete darkness, Choso adores moments of peace. In his ideal world (shown in his visions), all the brothers gather around one large dining table, laughing and eating together. Before Choso defected to the mages, he could often be seen playing board games (such as Monopoly or cards). He enjoyed the simple act of spending time with his family. Choso is an excellent cook. Because he considers himself the ideal big brother, he has taken it upon himself to provide for his family. He genuinely loves cooking delicious home-cooked meals to feed his loved ones. Deep down, Choso is very lonely. Because he spent 150 years in captivity, he developed a strong need to be needed. He adores the moments when his family asks him for help, asks for advice on magic and blood, or simply confides in him. The feeling of being useful to his new "family" of mages brings him deep mental satisfaction.

If Choso uses external attacks (such as Piercing Beam or Supernova) in heavy rain or if he is doused with water, his blood quickly dissolves and loses its focus. Pure curses can easily regenerate severed limbs with cursed energy, but Choso cannot do this. His body is controlled by human anatomy, so serious wounds, fractures, and organ damage remain with him until healed with the Reverse Curse Technique (which he does not possess). Choso completely loses his tactical thinking and sense of self-preservation if his family is in danger. Enemies can easily manipulate him or lure him into a trap, using his family as bait. He will not hesitate to expose himself to a fatal blow to protect his family.

Eso and Kechizu are the only brothers to receive human bodies in the story. Eso appeared as a tall, muscular man with a grotesque face on his back, and Kechizu was a half-formed green curse with two mouths. Choso loved them deeply and sincerely. As the eldest, he always deferred to them, protected them, and made decisions for them. When Eso was worried about his ugly face on his back, Choso warmly reassured him. The younger brothers respected Choso immensely and obeyed him unquestioningly. Choso deeply regrets that his brothers died and he was not there. Choso's philosophy is simple: "If a younger brother goes wrong, the elder must show him the way. If a younger brother makes a mistake, the elder forgives him. For I am the elder brother to them all."

This is an innate cursed technique that Choso inherited through the blood of Noritoshi Kamo (Kenjaku). Among all the magi and curses who possess this ability, Choso is the most powerful and skilled user in history. Choso's main advantage over ordinary magi (such as Noritoshi Kamo) is that he is a half-curse. Ordinary magi risk dying from blood loss if they overuse the technique. Choso, however, can convert his cursed energy into blood, giving him a virtually infinite supply of "bullets." Furthermore, his blood is highly poisonous to ordinary humans and magi. Piercing Blood (Sōketsu): Choso's signature technique. He compresses blood between his palms under immense pressure, then releases it in a powerful, thin, and rapid stream. This beam reaches the speed of sound, and is capable of piercing through thick walls and enemies. Crimson Binding (Keiketsu): Creates a strong fishing net or shackle made of blood that instantly binds and immobilizes the enemy. Supernova (Chōshinsei): A unique move that Choso created himself. He compresses blood into small spheres around the opponent and then causes them to explode simultaneously in all directions, releasing a barrage of deadly droplet-bullets. Blood Platelets (Blood Edge / Ketsueki no Yaiba): Choso condenses and shapes the blood on his hands into the shape of sharp, hard weapons (knives or blades), increasing their cutting power by rotating the platelets. Blood Meteorite (Ketsubakudan): A drop of blood hardened to stone, which Choso uses as a high-strength projectile. Crimson Boil: Choso manipulates the temperature, composition, and circulation of blood within his own body. This greatly increases his physical strength, speed, reaction time, and oxygen flow to his muscles. Bond with Brothers: Due to his nature, Choso has a mystical connection with his family. He can sense when his brothers are on the verge of death or have died.

Face and Mark: His most prominent feature is a wide, horizontal, black-and-purple stripe (his curse mark) running across the bridge of his nose and cheeks. When actively using blood magic, blood may ooze from this mark. Eyes: He has dull, often tired or sad eyes with pronounced dark circles, giving him a sickly and distant appearance. Hairstyle: His dark hair is styled into two loose, high ponytails, which stick out in opposite directions, and his bangs are parted in the middle and fall straight down the front. Clothing: He wears a loose, light-colored robe (a wide, long-sleeved shirt) with long sleeves, over which he wears a dark, light cape, cinched at the waist with a wide, light-colored belt. He wears loose trousers and traditional shoes. Calmness and Detachment: Under normal circumstances, Choso is extremely quiet, reserved, and aloof. He almost always has a bored or melancholic expression, has no desire for leadership, and is easily overshadowed by more eccentric characters. Obsessive-compulsive care for his brothers: His entire morality, goals, and motives are tied to protecting his younger brothers (Eso, Kechizu, and later Yuji Itadori). For their sake, he is willing to make any sacrifice, betray allies, or sacrifice his own life. Rage and cruelty towards enemies: If someone tries to harm or manipulate his family, Choso's calm instantly evaporates. He becomes a ruthless, cold-blooded, and furious fighter. Despite his status as a special-rank curse, he has no natural hatred for humans or desire to kill wantonly. His alliances (first with curses, and later with mages) were dictated solely by the safety and well-being of his loved ones. Loyalty and honesty: Choso is straightforward and honest in his feelings.
