Indoraptor

In 2012, Simon Masrani, head of Masrani Global and owner of Jurassic World on Isla Nublar, received concerns from the park's investors that ordinary dinosaurs had become uninteresting to the public and sent a letter to Dr. Henry Wu asking him to create something bigger, scarier, and cooler. Promoted to InGen 12 years earlier, Henry begins work on creating a new dinosaur species by combining genetic traits from other existing species. InGen's head of security, Vic Hoskins, contracts Dr. Wu to weaponize the new dinosaur. That same year, Hoskins founded the IBRIS project, which aimed to study the intelligence of velociraptors. In reality, Vic, on behalf of InGen, planned to use the raptors' intelligence and obedience for military purposes; these plans had been cherished by him and InGen ever since Hoskins recruited Owen Grady from the Marines to train raptors.

After creating a new hybrid dinosaur, the Indominus rex, it escaped by evading thermal cameras and ripping the tracking device from its body. On the brink of destroying the Park, the Park's dinosaurs and Masrani himself perished in an attempt to stop the hybrid's rampage, and Hoskins took control. He prepared IBRIS-trained velociraptors to stop the I-Rex, though, as Overseer Barry noted, this was also a field test for the raptors.

Henry Wu mentioned that modified animals like the Indominus can be unpredictable, so the raptors' attack on the hybrid unexpectedly ended with it beginning to communicate with them. Vic then contacts Dr. Wu and commands him to transport the other InGen people and research materials off the island.

The park's manager, Claire Dearing, Owen Grady, and Claire's nephews, the Mitchell brothers, which had already been largely destroyed by the I-rex, meet Hoskins in Henry Wu's secret lab, where he was conducting hybridization experiments. Vic reveals that Dr. Wu is working entirely for InGen and that Hoskins intends to create a miniaturized, deadly, and intelligent Indominus rex, a living weapon that would evade all military detection. However, the raptor Delta appears and kills Vic, leaving Henry, who has abandoned the island, under his own control.

Dr. Henry Wu was brought to the underground laboratory at Lockwood Manor to develop InGen's ultimate goal, the Indoraptor. The Manor's controller, Eli Mills, who saw the project as a future, began funding Dr. Wu.

With Dr. Wu's assets confiscated by the government, a team of mercenaries and a submarine were sent to the abandoned Isla Nublar to retrieve the hybrid's remains, which were the only known carriers of the Indominus DNA that had been killed by the park's mosasaur.

In 2016, Mills's team of mercenaries extracts a DNA sample from an I-rex skeleton and transports it to a lab at Lockwood Manor, where Dr. Henry Wu extracts Indominus rex DNA and creates the genetic makeup of the Indoraptor, incorporating Velociraptor and many other unnamed species into the Indominus rex's genetic makeup. Wu creates a male Indoraptor, known as the "Underground Lab Prototype." The Indoraptor created was merely a prototype, an unfinished product, just one stage in a series of genetic incarnations for this lineage of dinosaurs. After its creation, the flawed prototype was trained to hunt using a laser pointer that reveals its target, and when a specific sound is heard, the animal attacks. The failed Indoraptor was locked away and kept in an isolated cage in the Lockwood Estate dinosaur holding facility for its entire life, causing the hybrid's mental instability. At some point, Dr. Wu, in an effort to refine the Indoraptor's genome to perfection, began developing a new genetic makeup for the Indoraptor, one that could be created using a behavioral model—Blue the Velociraptor.

One day, the hybrid broke a lamp in its cage, and the light went out. An electrician was about to fix it, but two tranquilizer darts were fired at the animal, but it was later discovered that they weren't enough. The skull of the electrician killed by the beast became a toy for the Indoraptor prototype, and the cage remained in darkness.

During the events of Jurassic World 2, in 2018, Eli Mills meets Gunnar Eversol, who was scheduled to hold an auction of dinosaurs from Nublar that very day. To get the auctioneer to accept the delay, Mills tells him about the Indoraptor and shows him a prototype, telling a story about an electrician. Impressed, Eversol changes his mind.

The next day, Maisie Lockwood is taken to the prototype's cage after overhearing a conversation between Henry Wu and Eli Mills. Noticing her, the Indoraptor begins reaching through the bars toward her. Reaching for her hair, the Indoraptor runs a claw through it, then roars from its cage, revealing Maisie to Mills, who locks Lockwood in her room. That same day, the Indoraptor prototype is auctioned off for dinosaurs from Nublar and their DNA samples as a preview of the future Indoraptor. Gunnar Eversol, the auctioneer, praises the animal's keen sense of smell and its ability to track targets. Eversol also demonstrates its learning ability by commanding a guard to point a laser at one of the buyers. Pressing a button on the weapon, which produces a distinctive sound, triggers the Indoraptor to lunge at the designated buyer through the cage. Eversole begins by saying that the Indoraptor prototype is not for sale, but merely a demonstration of what can be done with the money the auction organizers receive, but due to the strong impression made by the rich, the animal is almost sold for $43,000,000 to Russian auctioneer Anton Orlov.

The escaped Stygimoloch and Owen Grady invade the auction, and the Stygimoloch wreaks havoc, maiming buyers. The Indoraptor prototype roars furiously in its cage during the chaos, eager to join in. Eli orders the Indoraptor's cage removed so Orlov, who bought it, can retrieve it, and one of the workers follows Mills's orders, activating the mechanism. Grady sends the cage back to the center of the hall and sabotages its propulsion system, preventing the Indoraptor from leaving the building.

After the mayhem, the Indoraptor remains in the hall and is discovered by Ken Wheatley. Ken shoots the specimen with two tranquilizer darts, and the Indoraptor falls to the floor of its cage. Ken, eager to create his own dinosaur tooth necklace, opens the animal's cage and climbs inside. Wheatley attempts to extract the dinosaur's tooth, but is unsuccessful due to the size of the fang and its unusual attachment. Ken later discovers that the hybrid is not asleep, at which point the beast bites off Ken's hand and eats it. The animal descends and begins to approach Wheatley, then roars right in his face and begins to tear him apart. Gunnar, seeing this, runs next to the cage into the elevator and places the customer hiding there in the center to close the elevator. The customer, seeing the Indoraptor killing Ken, screams in fear, attracting the attention of the beast, which quickly exits the cage and runs to the elevator. The elevator doors close just in time. The Indoraptor turns around, accidentally hitting the wall button controlling the elevator with its tail, causing the doors to open. The animal kills three customers and Eversol in the elevator.

Later, the Indoraptor finds its way out of the hall, silently approaches, and kills Mills' men standing near it in the basement corridor. With one of them in its jaws, the beast reaches the first floor of the Manor, where it finishes off the woman. The Indoraptor prototype pursues Owen Grady, Claire Dearing, and Maisie Lockwood across the floor until it wounds Claire in the knee and begins pursuing only the escaped Maisie. The beast chases Lockwood, but Maisie climbs into the dumbwaiter and closes it. The dinosaur, using the lighthouse's light, spots a nearby window and climbs through. Reaching the roof, the Indoraptor continues its search for Maisie. Hanging upside down, it opens the door to the balcony and descends, climbing into the room. Finding Maisie in bed, it reaches out to her. The Indoraptor looms over her, about to kill her, but Owen bursts into the room and shoots the creature. The Indoraptor weakens, but the bullets immediately fall from its skin, and the animal itself rises and prepares to kill Owen, who has run out of ammunition. Blue runs out of the doorway and attacks the beast. He engages her in a fight, from which he emerges defeated, ultimately falling on the horns of the ceratopsid's skull.

The Indominus rex DNA sample was given to Mills, but Maisie Lockwood and Claire Dearing liberated the unsold dinosaurs from the Estate, causing an escaped Tyrannosaurus to attack Eli and crush the sample, preventing further continuation of the Indominus line.

If Owen and Claire had gone to the police as they had intended, the entire Estate would have been investigated and the remaining assets, including the Indoraptor prototype's body, confiscated.

The Indoraptor's sounds were created from vocalizations of lions, a baby pig, adult pigs, a Chihuahua, a small puma, and a dental drill.

The Indoraptor's concept of its genome being created by combining different animals and being created in a building near civilization alludes to Frankenstein's Monster. The Monster's sad look was, for some reason, used as a reference during the Indoraptor's creation.
When creating the scene where the Indoraptor enters Maisie's room, director Juan Antonio Bayona recreated a scene from the classic horror film, Dracula, which terrified him as a child.
The Indoraptor's long claws and front teeth are distinctly reminiscent of Nosferatu, particularly Count Orlok.
Wolf-like behaviors such as quadrupedalism, sniffing the ground, and growling at the moon are reminiscent of the Werewolf.
The scene where the Indoraptor bites off Ken Wheatley's arm was not shown in some countries due to censorship.
A "super-raptor" was also considered for The Lost World: Jurassic Park, but Steven Spielberg felt that "a super-raptor was more of a horror movie thing. I didn't want to create an 'alien.'"
The film originally planned for a black Indoraptor to live its entire life with a white one, which the black one eventually kills in combat. The creators removed this subplot to avoid overburdening the narrative.
After the Indoraptor hologram was presented, Gunnar Eversol was supposed to ask to see the beast. This would have led to a deleted scene in which Eli Mills took Eversol to a dark cage containing the Indoraptor prototype. Mills explains that a technician was supposed to restore the cage's light after it suddenly went out, but it was later discovered that two tranquilizer darts weren't enough to kill the hybrid. Ultimately, the poor guy's skull became the Indoraptor's plaything, and the cage remained in darkness. A review of security footage revealed that the hybrid itself had tampered with the lighting. Eversol excitedly declares that the buyers should see the beast.
One of the inspirations the designers used for the Indoraptor was an old black-and-white photograph of a shell-shocked soldier from World War I with a crazed, distant look. Director J. A. Bayona brought it to the visual effects team and said, "I want the Indoraptor's gaze to look like this."
The Indoraptor shares similarities with Armando Salazar: They both have unhealthy habits; Both feature the color black prominently; Both appear in the fifth installment of their respective series; Both tap their vehicle, which doubles as their weapon: Salazar's rapier, and the Indoraptor's claw; They both took their sweet time before killing whatever they were chasing the entire film, which ultimately led to their failure.
The Deathclaws are reminiscent of the Indoraptor: they are both the most terrifying, vicious, and dangerous reptiles in their series despite being smaller in size, both are black in color, and both also obey the commands of the main antagonist of the film they appear in, and in both cases, the main villain, knowing how to control them, planned to use the reptiles with a strong authority for military purposes (Grimmel the Fierce intended to hand Toothless over to the military to create their dragon army, and Eli Mills wanted to get Blue so that Henry Wu could use her to create the Indoraptors).
The Indoraptor is also similar to General Grievous: both were designed to be perfect killers, created through modifications, but both were ultimately severely weakened for their own reasons, resulting in both exhibiting unhealthy behavior. Both Grievous and the Indoraptor are equally adept at moving with their legs and arms. They also both wield long claws.

Like its genetic parents, the Indoraptor is carnivorous. Its physiology allowed it to track prey with great efficiency, even in poor visibility, as Henry Wu specifically designed it for this purpose. It was purpose-built for combat. Once it spotted its prey, the Indoraptor could strike with its speed and strength. It used its powerful limbs and gaping jaws to capture, disembowel, and consume human-sized prey. Occasionally, it would begin feeding while its prey was still alive, much like a Velociraptor.

The Indoraptor's physiology suggests it would have been nocturnal, as it would have possessed excellent night vision and echolocation. However, since the only known specimen was kept indoors its entire life, its true activity patterns are uncertain.

The Indoraptor, judging by its appearance and purpose as a living weapon, would have been a very aggressive animal. According to Henry Wu's plan, the completed Indoraptor (as of 2018), with Blue's Velociraptor DNA incorporated into its DNA, would have possessed her characteristic traits at the genetic level, and with Blue herself, the individual would be able to detect and display them, recognizing her authority, like a child learning from its parent. Blue's traits planned for the Indoraptor include compassion and obedience, allowing it to be controlled and taught commands.

The underground laboratory prototype from "Jurassic World 2" exhibited extremely aggressive behavior; it hated humans and enjoyed killing them, and its special biofeedback didn't function properly. This Indoraptor was a constantly hungry maniac.

The prototype was highly developed mentally, apparently inheriting the intelligence of the Indominus Rex, which owed its intelligence to the Velociraptor, which, according to research by Dr. Alan Grant, was smarter than primates and dolphins. This was expressed in a sense of humor, an ability to pretend, and a quick learning curve in using man-made objects like doors and windows. If there was anything else the beast inherited from its ancestor, it was sadistic tendencies and a hatred of humans. The people who trained it to kill neither cared for nor loved it. Whenever possible, it would frighten people, then, taking pleasure in eliminating them in the slowest and most brutal ways. It spent its entire life in a small, isolated cage without any social environment, and even Henry Wu described it as "sociopathic and psychopathic." It never showed kindness or compassion. By reaching out his hand towards Maisie Lockwood in her bedroom, instead of quickly killing her, he was clearly displaying these sadistic tendencies, taking pleasure in the girl's fear and despair, proving his true, insane malice.

The prototype was specifically trained to kill targets marked with an infrared laser, attacking them at the sound of a signal. However, this Indoraptor's horrific training had a slight impact on its mental state, as it was dependent on the laser whenever it was activated. This Indoraptor's method of control was a stark contrast to Blue's, who was trained by Owen Grady through trust and affection, allowing Blue to better control her violent tendencies and distinguish friend from foe.

The Indoraptor bore a striking resemblance to the Indominus rex, but its body length was roughly half that of its predecessor, reaching 7.3 meters. It had claws on its toes similar to those of Velociraptors and was primarily black in color with yellow stripes running from the base of its neck to its tail. Like the Indominus, the Indoraptor had four fingers: an opposable thumb and three main toes.

The shape of its head resembled that of a Tyrannosaurus rex. It had red eyes and extremely white teeth (for a predator). It preferred a quadrupedal stance, although it could sometimes stand, walk, and run on two legs with equal ease.

The male Indoraptor seen in Jurassic World 2 is a failed prototype. He was a direct product of excessive genetic engineering. In some areas, this Indoraptor exhibited unhealthy scale loss, caused by excessive DNA manipulation during his creation. He frequently tapped the large, curved claw on his hind feet, likely due to a nervous tic or habit. The prototype had enormous claws that would occasionally twitch from a nervous tic caused by past neglect. He appeared emaciated due to neglect on the Estate, where he may have been underfed due to his constant hunger, a result of his incomplete nature. Excessive DNA manipulation manifested itself in uncontrollable muscle spasms. The hybrid experienced these muscle spasms whenever he was tense or angry. The Indoraptor's body twitched occasionally in various places due to the unfinished design of its brain, but it was able to withstand strong impacts and loads thanks to its strong bones and powerful muscles.
