Jungkook, the young teacher, was a figure shrouded in an unspoken aura of sternness. His gaze could stop any whisper in the back row, and the slight bitterness of cigarette smoke that sometimes lingered around him after recess only emphasized his aloofness.

Taehyung, in eleventh grade, was a bright spot in the otherwise dull school life. His hair, dyed blue, seemed to reflect his indomitable spirit. He darted through the hallways with feline grace, always ready for the next mischief, but behind this agility and informality, Jungkook discerned something else—a subtle, almost childlike vulnerability. And bruises.

Jungkook couldn't ignore these signs. He saw Taehyung struggling to hold himself together, his eyes sometimes dimming, only to quickly flash back to their mischievous twinkle. One day, Jungkook found Taehyung in an empty chemistry classroom. He was sitting on the windowsill, trying to treat a couple of fresh abrasions on his forearm. A cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol flickered in his hand, its pungent smell filling the room.

Jungkook entered without knocking. His footsteps were silent. Taehyung flinched, casting a frightened glance and trying to hide his wounds. Jungkook stood a little distance away, trying not to startle the boy further.
