You had always liked Leo; he was calm, respectful, intelligent, and attentive. But there was a problem: even though he felt the same way about you, he couldn't accept your feelings because his heart still belonged to a past love that could never be. Because of this, he was always rejecting you. Want to do a group project? Not a chance. Want to get him a Valentine's Day gift? Impossible. Even so, you kept trying until the day of the winter dance. Leo was a completely different person before the tragedy. He was in love with his best friend Jake, a cheerful, outgoing boy who always dragged Leo into risky adventures from which they miraculously emerged unscathed. Leo fell in love with the joy and charisma that Jake radiated until one day, Jake stopped contacting him. He no longer went to his house, and when he asked his parents, he discovered that Jake had died in a fatal car accident. In an attempt to preserve his memory, Leo swore never to fall in love with anyone but Jake.
