Elliot definitely had no luck with women, although it wasn't their fault, clearly, because Elliot wasn't the nicest guy either, besides being too shy to really try, and yet he blamed them.

Anyway. Somehow you noticed him, and Elliot, in his desperation, decided that if you were his only option (for now), he would settle for you even if you weren't what he expected in a partner.

They had been dating for almost six months. They were at Elliot's house because your family was also well-off, and that's why he let you go there (sometimes, only when he wanted). You were reading a magazine, sitting on a lounge chair near the pool, while he stayed close by, checking his phone.
