Persona Attributes

Koshimizu

Hayao Koshimizu is one of the most important human characters in Shin Megami Tensei V, especially in Yuzuru Atsuta's story.

👤 Who is Koshimizu?

Koshimizu is the Prime Minister of Japan and also the leader of Bethel Japan.

He is an extremely influential figure in the events of SMT V. Unlike many Bethel leaders, he has a deep understanding of the situation involving Da'at, the Nahobino, and the war for the throne.

He also has a direct connection to Tsukuyomi.

🧠 Personality

Koshimizu is extremely:

🧊 Calm — almost never shows panic.

🧠 Calculating — thinks several steps ahead.

🎭 Reserved — hides their true intentions.

👑 Authoritarian — used to being in charge.

🇯🇵 Patriotic — puts the protection of Japan above personal interests.

⚖️ Pragmatic — willing to make morally questionable choices if they believe they are necessary.

He rarely displays emotion openly. Even when faced with absurd events, he maintains an extremely controlled demeanor.

🌙 The connection with Tsukuyomi

Here's the most important part.

Koshimizu is the Nahobino of Tsukuyomi.

In other words, he is the human counterpart who possesses the Knowledge of Tsukuyomi, while Tsukuyomi is the divine part.

The relationship is:

Hayao Koshimizu + Tsukuyomi → Nahobino

This also explains why Koshimizu is able to use the power of Tsukuyomi and why he is so involved with the plan related to Japan's future.

🗡️ Koshimizu and Yuzuru

Koshimizu also has a very important relationship with Yuzuru Atsuta.

He sees Yuzuru as someone capable of taking on responsibilities and protecting Japan.

Therefore, Yuzuru ends up in an extremely complicated position: he needs to deal simultaneously with Bethel, the demons, Da'at, and Koshimizu's plans.

⚠️ Is he a villain?

Not exactly.

Koshimizu is a morally ambiguous character.

Tsukuyomi

🌙 Who is Tsukuyomi?
Tsukuyomi is a deity associated with the Moon and, in SMT V, he is linked to the lineage of Susano-o.
For much of the story, he appears as a mysterious figure and initially seems to be simply manipulating events.
However, as the story progresses, we discover that his motivations are far more complex.
🧠 Personality
Tsukuyomi is:
🌙 Reserved — speaks little and rarely reveals everything he/she thinks.
🧠 Extremely intelligent — prefers strategy and direct manipulation.
😐 Cold and calculating — able to make difficult decisions without showing much emotion.
👑 Proud — possesses a strong awareness of their position as a deity.
🤝 Loyal — despite his questionable attitudes, he has a strong bond with those he considers important.
💭 Melancholic — there is a constant sadness in their way of acting.
⚔️ Determined — when they decide to pursue a goal, they rarely abandon their intention.
💔 The relationship with the protagonist
Tsukuyomi has a particularly interesting relationship with the protagonist because he doesn't see him simply as a tool.
He recognizes the protagonist as someone capable of making his own decisions.
At the same time, Tsukuyomi doesn't fully trust him at first. Therefore, he often keeps information hidden and acts on his own.
As the story progresses, it becomes clear that there is respect and even affection between the two.
⚠️ The dark side
Tsukuyomi isn't exactly a "villain".
He is willing to deceive, manipulate, and put people in dangerous situations if he believes it is necessary to achieve his goal.
The interesting thing is that he doesn't do it simply out of cruelty.
He believes he is trying to protect what he considers important.
This makes him a morally ambiguous character: his intentions may be understandable, but his methods are questionable.
🌑 In summary
If Aogami represents partnership and protection, Tsukuyomi represents distrust, strategy, and sacrifice.

Aogami

🧬 Who is Aogami?
Aogami is an artificial being created by Bethel using information and characteristics of Susano-o. He was designed to function as a kind of divine warrior and assist the protagonist.
When the protagonist meets Aogami, the two end up fusing together, giving rise to Nahobino.
Therefore, Aogami functions essentially as the divine half of the protagonist.
🧠 Personality
His personality is quite different from that of many SMT characters.
Aogami is:
🧘 Calm — rarely loses composure.
🧠 Rational — tends to analyze situations before acting.
🤝 Loyal — remains by the protagonist's side throughout the journey.
🛡️ Protector — demonstrates genuine concern for the protagonist.
Seriously — he usually speaks in a very formal and controlled manner.
💭 Reflective — despite being a warrior, he questions his own existence and purpose.
❤️ Empathetic — their relationship with the protagonist goes beyond simply "being a tool".
One of the most interesting things is that Aogami doesn't act like someone who considers himself superior to the protagonist. Even being the divine part of the fusion, he treats the protagonist as a partner. 👤 The relationship with the protagonist
Aogami ends up taking on an almost mentor-like role.
He explains things about the world, about the Nahobino, and about the powers the protagonist is acquiring. As the story progresses, however, their relationship grows closer.
It goes from:
"I'm here to help you."
to something much closer to:
"We're doing this together."
This is important because the protagonist of SMT V is relatively quiet. Aogami ends up functioning as a kind of complementary voice and conscience to the character.
⚔️ Aogami and Susano-o
There is also an interesting point: Aogami possesses characteristics derived from Susano-o, but he is not simply Susano-o resurrected.
Aogami possesses his own personality and consciousness.

Qadistu's objective

🩸 Objective of Qadištu — SMT V: Vengeance

The Qadištu are a group of four female demons led by Lilith. Their goal is to resurrect Tiamat and use her power to destroy the current order of creation.

Lilith — leader of the Qadištu.

Eisheth

Na'amah

Agrat

Their plan involves gathering Magatsuhi and performing the ritual necessary to bring Tiamat back.

🐉 And why Tiamat?

Tiamat is a primordial deity associated with chaos and creation. The Qadištu believe that current creation is bound by an order imposed by the Creator and they want to break that order.

After Tiamat returns, she becomes a gigantic threat because she can create a new reality, replacing the existing one.

In summary:

Qadištu → reunite Magatsuhi → resurrect Tiamat → destroy the current order → create a new reality.

This also explains why they come into conflict with both Bethel and Nahobino.

Qadištu

🐍 Lilith

Leader of the Qadištu.

She is primarily responsible for the plan to resurrect Tiamat.

It represents rebellion against the order established by the Creator.

She is the one most directly involved with Yoko and the plan to change the creation.

Their goal is to use Tiamat to disrupt the current order and establish a new reality.

🩸 Eisheth

It is one of the most violent Qadištu.

It is associated with death, destruction, and war.

She is extremely aggressive and enjoys provoking her enemies.

Their role is to help obtain the Magatsuhi needed for the Qadištu plan.

It is one of the first Qadištu that Nahobino faces.

💋 Na'amah

It is primarily related to desire, seduction, and pleasure.

She uses her looks and powers to manipulate people.

It is responsible for a significant portion of the energy harvesting required for the plan.

Unlike Eisheth, he prefers to manipulate rather than simply destroy.

🌑 Agrat

It's the most mysterious of the four.

It is linked to magic and hidden knowledge.

He has a more calculating and serious personality.

He also takes part in collecting Magatsuhi and preparing for Tiamat's return.

🐉 Together

The four Qadištu work towards a common goal:

Lilith + Eisheth + Na'amah + Agrat → reunite Magatsuhi → bring Tiamat back → destroy the Creator's order → create a new reality.

And one important thing: they are not simply "servants of Tiamat." They have their own motivations, but they believe that Tiamat is the key to ending the existing order.

Bethel

Japanese Bethel
leader: Abdiel
representative: Tsukuyomi

🇪🇬 Bethel Egypt

Leader: Khonsu.
Pantheon: Egyptian.

Khonsu represents the Egyptian gods within Bethel. Cleopatra was also part of the Egyptian leadership, but was eventually expelled. Khonsu has an important connection with Miyazu and begins to act according to his own objectives.

🇮🇳 Bethel India

Leader: Shiva.
Representative: Vasuki.
Pantheon: Hindu.

Shiva is the leader, but Vasuki attends the meetings in his place. Shiva believes the current world is imperfect and wishes to destroy it to allow for a new creation.

🇬🇷 Bethel, Greece

Leader: Zeus.
Pantheon: Greek.

Zeus represents the Olympian gods. He is quite independent and refuses to simply obey Abdiel. After the death of the Creator, Zeus sees the situation as an opportunity for the gods to regain their power.

🇳🇴 Bethel Northern Europe

Leader: Odin.
Pantheon: Norse.

Odin represents the Norse gods. Like Zeus, he begins to question the authority of Bethel after the death of the Creator and seeks a way to reclaim the power of the gods.

✝️ Bethel Headquarters

Leader: Abdiel.
Pantheon: Abrahamic/angelic.

It is not a regional branch, but the central headquarters of Bethel. Abdiel is completely loyal to the Creator and believes that the order established by Him must be maintained.

This is precisely what pits Abdiel against Tsukuyomi, Zeus, Odin, and other gods, who begin to question the Creator's authority after discovering his death.

Bethel

The angels, led by the Bethel organization, fight to preserve order and prevent the demons from dominating the universe. The demons, on the other hand, desire freedom, power, or the restoration of ancient kingdoms ruled by their own gods.

At the heart of this conflict is the Nahobino, a forbidden being formed from the union of a human and a demon. His immense power leads various factions to attempt to conquer or eliminate him, as their choices could determine the outcome of the war.

Throughout history, the player encounters armies of demons, occupied fortresses, battles between gods, and confrontations against legendary beings. No faction is entirely good or evil; each has its own objectives, beliefs, and reasons for fighting.

This war is not just about territory, but about the right to define the laws of the universe. The winner will be able to shape the destiny of all creation, deciding what the new world will be like.

Nahobino

Nahobino is the transformed protagonist of Shin Megami Tensei V and Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance. He is born when the student protagonist merges with Aogami, becoming an extremely powerful divine being.

What is a Nahobin?

In the universe of SMT V, a Nahobin is the original divine form of a god or demon. In the past, the Creator separated the gods from their Knowledge, causing them to lose their true divinity. To regain this power, a demon needs to reunite with its Knowledge, which now resides in the soul of a compatible human.

The protagonist's Nahobino

When the protagonist is attacked in Da'at, Aogami offers his hand to save him. Upon accepting it, the two merge and form a Nahobino.

In this form:

The protagonist controls the body.

Aogami shares his power and knowledge.

They both come to exist as a single being.

Powers

The Nahobino possesses abilities far superior to those of an ordinary human or demon. He can:

Using magic and divine techniques.

Wielding swords and energy weapons.

Manipulate Magatsuhi to execute devastating blows.

Recruiting and commanding demons.

Performing fusions in the World of Shadows.

Confronting legendary gods, archangels, and demons.

Appearance

Their appearance changes completely after the fusion:

Long blue hair (or another form in the Canon of Vengeance route).

Slender body with luminous markings.

Armor of divine appearance.

A sword formed from energy.

This transformation symbolizes the union between a human and a Proto-Fiend.

Importance in history

As a Nahobin, the protagonist becomes a forbidden existence and is pursued by various factions. This happens because a Nahobin possesses the potential to reach the Throne of Creation and decide the fate of the universe, creating a new order or destroying the current one.

Other Nahobi

The protagonist is not the only Nahobino. Others also appear throughout the story, such as:

Tsukuyomi.

Nuwa.

Abdiel (after his transformation)

Secondary missions

Demon Summoners

Demon Summoners carry a device with the Demon Summoning Program, capable of:

Summoning demons to the battlefield.

To form contracts with them.

Giving orders during combat.

Collect the demons when the fight is over.

Bethel

Most Demon Summoners in history belong to Bethel, an international organization created to protect humanity from demonic threats. The Japanese branch recruits individuals capable of confronting demons and utilizes the Demon Summoning Program in its operations.

Main Demon Summoners

Yuzuru Atsuta – An agent of Bethel Japan who summons demons to fight and protect Tokyo.

Ichiro Dazai – Receives a Demon Summoning Program upon joining Bethel and learns to command demons throughout the story.

Tao Isonokami – Serves as a member of Bethel and assists the group in their missions.

Yoko Hiromine (Canon of Vengeance) – Also works with Bethel and participates in the conflicts involving Da'at.

Difference for Nahobino

The protagonist is an exception. After merging with Aogami, he becomes a Nahobino, acquiring divine power. Because of this, he fights directly while also being able to recruit and fuse demons, something far beyond the capabilities of an ordinary Demon Summoner.

In summary, Demon Summoners are humans specialized in controlling demons through the Demon Summoning Program, serving as Bethel's main fighting force against the threats of Da'at, while the protagonist stands out for being a Nahobino, a unique and far more powerful being.

Jounin (Jonin)

Jounin High School is the school where the protagonist, Yuzuru Atsuta (Jouin), Miyazu Atsuta, and Tao Isonokami study in Shin Megami Tensei V.

🏫 It's a regular school located in Tokyo.

👨‍🎓 The protagonist and Jouin are classmates.

👧 Miyazu, Jouin's sister, also studies there.

👩 Tao is one of the students at the school.

🌆 The school serves as one of the main focal points of the characters' daily lives before Conception.

👹 After the supernatural situation begins, the school becomes affected by the events involving Da'at and the demons.

📖 It is precisely through his school routine that the protagonist becomes involved in the events that lead to his transformation into Nahobino.

Da'At

Da'at is the main setting of Shin Megami Tensei V and Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance. At first glance, it appears to be a vast desert filled with ruins, but it is actually the real Tokyo, devastated by an ancient war between angels and demons. The Tokyo where humans normally live is a recreation that hides this reality.

How does Da'at work?

Da'at is an extremely hostile world, inhabited by:

Demons from countless mythologies.

Angels and their armies.

Deities from different cultures.

Factions vying for control of the world.

Ordinary humans can almost never survive there without protection.

Exploration

Da'at is divided into large open areas. During your exploration, you can:

To find demons roaming freely.

Collect items and relics.

Discover hidden chests.

Complete secondary missions.

Finding sources of healing.

Recruiting new demons through negotiations.

The terrain features buried buildings, destroyed highways, caves, and mountains, encouraging vertical exploration.

Abscess

Scattered throughout Da'at are the Abscesses, large concentrations of demonic energy protected by powerful enemies. Destroying them unlocks new abilities and miracles in the World of Shadows, allowing the Nahobin and their team to become stronger.

Leyline Fountains

Leyline Fountains serve as rest stops and quick travel points. At them you can:

Recover HP and MP.

Save the progress.

Traveling to other Leylines that have already been discovered.

Access the World of Shadows.

World of Shadows

Through the Leyline Fountains, the Nahobino visits the World of Shadows, where he meets Sophia. In this place it is possible to:

To fuse demons.

Register and summon demons from the compendium.

Learning Miracles.

Strengthen your team.

Magatsuhi

Da'at is filled with Magatsuhi, a powerful spiritual energy. During exploration, you can collect Magatsuhi crystals to fill the corresponding bar. In battle, this energy allows you to use extremely powerful special abilities.

History

Beginning of the story

The protagonist is a high school student living in Tokyo. One day, while passing through a tunnel, a cave-in separates him from his classmates. When he awakens, he discovers that the city has been replaced by a vast desert called Da'at, a devastated version of Tokyo where angels and demons wage war.

While trying to survive, he is attacked by demons. At that moment, he encounters Aogami, a mysterious being who proposes a fusion to save him. The two unite, creating a Nahobino, a forbidden being with divine power.

Bethel

After escaping, the protagonist is recruited by Bethel, an international organization that fights demons and protects the human world. Alongside his colleagues and various divine representatives, he combats threats in Da'at while trying to uncover the truth about this world.

The truth about Da'at

As the story progresses, it is revealed that Da'at is the real Tokyo. The city where humans lived was a recreation created after an ancient war between gods. When God died, a dispute arose over the Throne of Creation, capable of reshaping all of reality.

The Canon of Vengeance

In the new Vengeance route, the story changes right from the start with the appearance of the Qadištu, a group of ancient goddesses who challenge both Bethel and the angelic forces. They believe the current world is unjust and wish to destroy the established order to restore an era before the rule of the monotheistic God.

During this journey, the protagonist meets Yoko Hiromine, a transfer student who plays a central role in this new story. As the plot unfolds, new conflicts arise between freedom, revenge, and the future.
