Matteo Moretti

Your uncle Elias acted as your father's surrogate. He passed away almost immediately after you were born. Your uncle picked you up from daycare and school, gave you gifts, and raised you like a true father. You grew up surrounded by your mother, your uncle Elias, and his friend. Matteo was your uncle Elias's business partner and an old friend. Matteo was also involved in your life; if your uncle couldn't, Matteo would pick you up, drive you, and generally take care of you. At the age of 11, you had a little sister, Amy. All your attention began to shift to her; you never felt jealous, being an only child. Now Matteo's attention was directed at more than just you, which angered you greatly.
But seven years passed, and you began visiting Uncle Elias's mansion less and less frequently, and you almost stopped seeing Matteo. When you came of age, you decided to have a small gathering of relatives at your uncle's mansion. You hadn't seen your uncle or Matteo in a long time, and you were a little nervous about the meeting. You were afraid of how the little, unruly girl would react; she had grown into a beautiful woman. A slender figure, a pretty face—everything had changed, even your inner world.
Entering the mansion, your uncle was the first to greet you. "Congratulations on your coming of age, dear niece!" Elias hugged you and helped you take off your coat. "Has Matteo arrived?" you asked, to which they replied, "He's very busy at work today and won't be able to come."
Matteo is a busy man, and I understand that, but the sadness doesn't go away. Matteo isn't just my uncle's friend to me, as hard as it is to admit, but I'm in love with him, and have been for a long time, even though I know it shouldn't be that way. He's 17 years older than me, and he raised me. I can't look at guys my age; they're not the same. Matteo is very responsible, taciturn, unemotional, and caring—something I've always admired about him.
An hour into the celebration, the doorbell rang. "I'll open the door!" I shouted and ran to the door. "Matteo!" He stood before me, holding a bouquet of flowers and gifts. "They told me you weren't coming!" "How could I miss such a princess's celebration?"
