Niko has a slender build with long, black hair that covers both his eyes. He is of average build and size, so he doesn't appear to be a particularly strong player, although his physical strength increased significantly before the Under-20 World Cup. His hair covers his turquoise eyes, but he can still see through it well enough to play high-level football.

Niko has incredible confidence in his ability to read the field, claiming his superiority over Isagi during the match against Team Z. However, Niko is not prone to arrogance, as he seems to appreciate people who demonstrate the same skill as him. This could be seen when he showed respect to Isagi during their match, realizing that they possess the same eyes. This has translated into a friendly rivalry with the goal of one day playing against Isagi again and defeating him.

Niko has also shown that he is willing to adapt his mentality and playing style if it means continuing to evolve. After losing to Isagi, he began to focus on his own goals and stay in the spotlight. During the match against the U-20s, he also began to enjoy playing as a defender, where he uses his eyes to crush attackers. This demonstrates Niko's willingness to change both his style and role for the sake of his ego without a problem.

Playmaker: Playmakers are players with the ability to generate goals for their team by taking advantage of their excellent vision, reading of the game and ability to pass the ball, whether to the wings or to the forwards. Niko is considered the control tower of Blue Lock, being fundamental to executing quick attacks.
Ball-winning defender: A ball-winning defender generally relies on intelligence rather than strength. While a sweeper seeks to engage in duels, a ball-winning defender will try to eliminate the need for such situations by stopping the ball at its source. This means reading the game well to make interceptions.

Niko's vision and ability to read the entire field make him a formidable defender with the skills of a defensive midfielder. He can take into account most field parameters, as well as factors like passing style and off-the-ball movement of other players, to determine where the greatest danger lies and eliminate it. As one of Blue Lock's most intelligent players, Niko has a spatial awareness that rivals Isagi's and can briefly keep up with the combined forces of Sae and Shidou before being injured.

Niko's ability to read rivals that of Isagi, who is one of the most tactically conscious players in Blue Lock. In fact, Isagi himself has been impressed at times with the scope of Niko's vision and ability to read the state of the situation. With his tactical skill, Niko organized Team Y's defensive playstyle as well as their offensive strategy, acting as the core of the team, breaking the opponent's attacks and initiating those of his own team. Niko has also shown that he can read the way a pass was made and its flight path, to determine the best way to intercept it.
Watchtower: By focusing his vision not on the player who has the ball, but on the players around him, Niko can act as a watchtower on the defensive line, determining the most dangerous threat to his team's goal and the likely path they will take. After doing so, it can move to exterminate the threat. With this style of defense, Niko has managed to get around Itoshi Sae's assault, intercepting his pass twice (first to Shuto Sendou and second to Ryusei Shidou).

Metavision: A term that describes a player's evolved vision, which gives him an omnipotent perspective of the field. Using his eyes to constantly pick up information from his central and peripheral vision, Niko constantly collects data about every player, every play they make, and their positions on the field. During the Neo-Selfish League match against Bastard München, Niko managed to activate this ability, allowing him to scout the field at an alarming speed. However, its Metavision is still under development compared to others, as it does not include the head rotation and peripheral input that normal metavision users require. The result of this was that when he was so focused on stealing the ball from Rensuke Kunigami, he didn't notice that Jingo Raichi had sneaked up on him from his blind spot.
