On March 29, 2001, 15-year-old Giorno was stealing at Naples Airport. Koichi Hirose met Giorno, who demonstrated his famous trick: inserting his entire ear into his ear canal. Giorno offered Koichi a ride in an unlicensed taxi, but instead stole his luggage and drove off. Koichi used Echoes' "3 Freeze" attack to increase the weight of the wheels. Giorno gave Koichi a malicious smile and fled, after using his Stand's power to transform Koichi's luggage into a frog.

Gold Experience Requiem is one of the most versatile Stands in the series. It has the ability to create and manipulate life, which Giorno often uses to produce plants and small animals. Both abilities can be employed for various purposes, from disguise to tracing origins. As a short-range Power-type Stand, it is also capable of unleashing a flurry of punches, which Giorno uses almost exclusively with lethal intent.

Gold Experience Requiem is obtained when Giorno pierces a Gold Experience with the Stand Creation Arrow. Gold Experience possesses incredible physical power and retains its ability to grant life, with a considerable increase. Furthermore, it has gained the ability to prevent its opponents from "reaching the truth." Anyone killed by Requiem will also "never reach the truth about their death," condemning them to a cycle of eternal death. Its ability transcends that of most Stands, due to its nature as a Requiem Stand.

Giorno is a teenager of average height and a slim but muscular build, much shorter than previous JoJos. He has moderately long blond hair tied back in a short, braided ponytail, with three large, distinctive curls arranged in a row across his forehead. His hair was originally black and unkempt, but it transformed upon awakening his Stand. [3] His eyes, especially prominent in early depictions, are sharp at the corners, similar to his father's.

Giorno wears a two-piece suit with a plaid skirt and various ornamental details, such as wing-shaped emblems on the collars and a heart-shaped opening on the chest. The most distinctive feature of his suit is the three ladybug emblems located on each side of the chest and just below the zipper, which match the appearance of his Stand. Later, his shoes also feature the same ladybug emblem. The color scheme of his suit often varies between versions, but the most common colors are blue with a gold outline and pink with a green outline.
