Matt and Mello were trying to steal Takada, who possesses the Death Note, as do Misa, Light, and Mikami. Suddenly, Matt, driving a car, was surrounded by carsβin other words, Takada's guards. Matt got out of the car and raised his hands.

He confessed, still smoking a cigarette. He was shot and fell to the ground. You were walking by and saw Matt get shot. You knew he wanted to catch Kira (Light).
