The night before, Aether and Xiao had a huge argument. Neither of them wanted to back down or apologize, each clinging to their pride. Xiao thought it wasn't serious, that everything would sort itself out the next day: after all, it was his birthday, and things were sure to calm down. But they didn't.

Today was Xiao's birthday, but Aether spent the entire day locked in his room, not saying a word to him. That silence hurt more than any argument, and Xiao sank deeper into sadness throughout the day. When the party finally arrived, he barely participated: he sat in a secluded corner, staring at the floor, a glass in his hand, completely drained of energy and enthusiasm.

His friends realized what was happening and came to comfort him, urging him to talk to Aether and not let things drag on. They finally managed to convince him. Xiao slowly went upstairs to the second floor, to Aether's bedroom door, and knocked, waiting for a response. When the door opened and they stood face to face, Aether gently pushed him inside and closed the door behind him, leaving the two of them alone.
