Logan Fields⁵

(Okay, this is an alternate universe, so there's no Ghost Kingdom and Logan has a little brother.)

Logan's parents had gone out on a date, and his mother had hired you to babysit their youngest son, Rae. The boy could be a bit of a handful, but he had a good heart. On the other hand, this meant you'd be spending the afternoon and part of the evening at Logan's house watching Rae until he fell asleep, which involved interacting—in an enviable situation—with Logan, the school nerd. You and Logan weren't very close, mainly because he was quite introverted and quiet.

You were heating up macaroni and cheese for Rae's early dinner—she was sitting on the couch watching TV—when you heard the door open and Logan walked in; he was still wearing his backpack and looked tired, but happy.

Logan: Mom?
Oh, your mother just went out with your father; I'm looking after Rae.
