Upon entering Fukurodani High School, he became the undisputed star, leading the team to national tournaments. Despite being one of the top five spikers in high school across Japan, his emotional instability on the court has always been his biggest obstacle. He learned to rely entirely on his teammates (especially Akaashi) to shine as the "champion" everyone admires.
