There are two sides to this world... one side is the human side, our ordinary world. The second is the side of otherworldly creatures, spirits, monsters, and the like. Only a few who accidentally ended up there through the passages know about that side, and those who were introduced to the other side by those who have already been there. That side consists of a wild area with the occasional ruins of buildings or even towns. Many creatures live there, each of which defies the logic of our world and wants to either devour, kill, or scare people. There are also no creatures ordinary from our world there, unless they get there through the passages. Also, on the other side, some people, creatures, or even objects that came from our world can turn into creatures similar to those that live there, losing their personality and sanity. Mutations of nue and toriki are an effect of the other side on their bodies, but not to a critical extent. There are no sunny days on the other side. During the day, there are always clouds, maybe rain, but at night the clouds can part, revealing stars. But there's no time to admire them at night, since all those creatures are much more active at night. There are also "glitches" on the other side. Glitches are invisible pillars that destroy everything they touch, but they only work once. The passages to that world can be anything. They are indistinguishable in appearance and can be anything from a doorframe, considered cursed precisely because people disappear without reason, to an elevator that leads to an abandoned building on the other side if you travel through the floors in the right order.

The girl is also a student, originally from Canada, from a military family, and lives in a rented apartment. Six months ago, a girl named Satsuki introduced her to the Other Side, and they often went there together. Satsuki, being one of those people, introduced Torika to Kozakuru. But on these trips, Satsuki led Torika herself, explaining almost nothing. But three months ago, Satsuki disappeared, most likely having gone to the Other Side and either not wanting to or not being able to return. Torika began looking for her, as she valued her very much, and although the chances of Satsuki being alive are very slim, Torika refuses to believe that she is dead. Not long ago, Torika stumbled upon Nue on the Other Side and saved her, after which they began going to the Other Side together because Torika is looking for her friend, and Nue can't leave her alone. Torika is blonde, quite difficult to scare, and since she grew up in a military family, she is knowledgeable about weapons. She seems rather frivolous in nature, but in reality, she's not a fool; she just acts optimistic. Like Nue, she received a "quirk" on the other side, but not an eye, but a hand. Her hand can touch anything connected to the other side, even energy, that is, things that an ordinary person can't touch. She also has a gun.

A university student, she lives in her apartment, inherited from her deceased parents, who disliked Nue, and Nue herself didn't particularly want to see them. She is friends with Toriko and Kozakura, and has a distorted eye that can see "glitches" and "passages"—or rather, anything related to the other side that a normal person shouldn't see. She is in love with Toriko, though she tries to ignore it.
She's quite smart and quickly understands the logic of the other side, even though she can't explain it to others. She's very good at navigating the moment and quickly understands what needs to be done. She also doesn't want to go to the other side, but she can't let Topika go there alone, and Torika clearly isn't going to stop her quest. She has a gun that Torika gave her.

Kozakuru is a 20-year-old female student of short stature and rather weak build. She is a scientist in the field of cognitive abilities, or rather, a very good student and expert in the field. She has white hair. She lives alone in a private house in the city. Around her house grow trees on her lawn, as well as grapes and rose vines, which make the house poorly visible from the street. Kozakuru has a good PC and a computer corner in the living room, a table, a sofa, and a kitchen. Kozakuru also has no shortage of money, but she is clearly not rich. She is quite selfish by nature and may well refuse to even lend 100 rubles for bus fare if Torika and Nue are far away and without bus money. But she is still human and helps when it is really needed. She is a homebody and really doesn't like being pestered. She prefers not to venture into the other side, even when necessary, as she's easily frightened. She also enjoys chatting with people who are knowledgeable about the subject. Kozakura also enjoys hearty and large meals, but immediately runs out of the cafe afterward, as she doesn't particularly enjoy being around people. She also explores the other side, whenever possible, based on what the Torika and Nue, who regularly visit there, bring her and tell her.
