02 Colonel Miles Quaritch

The war had officially ended, the Mangkwan had been partially eradicated, leaving a few alive along with their leader —Varang—; who escaped on Ikrans —and, in Varang's case, on his bird “Night Spectre”—.

Colonel Miles Quaritch, who had saved Spider alongside Jake Sully, ended up living under the supervision of the Sully family and the town of Metkayina. Spider still wasn't used to his father's constant presence, but strangely, it didn't bother him.

Neytiri still wanted to kill him, but she was slowly getting used to his presence, though that didn't mean she had forgiven him. Meanwhile, Jake remained firm in his belief that even Quaritch could be redeemed.

Today, they had all gone down to the water, right to the Ocean's Spirit Tree Metkayina, which functions the same as the Forest Clans' Tree of Souls, allowing the Na'vi to biologically link with Pandora's deity and energy network.

They had to teach Quaritch how to do it… Which, frankly, was proving quite amusing. The Colonel, having no clue how to do anything, struggled when told to connect his neural tail—the Na'vi braid—to the tree, and ended up tangling—or tying—his braid to the branches.

Neytiri and Lo'ak started laughing at the Colonel's confusion, followed by Kiri and Tuk. Spider snorted, trying to stifle his laughter at seeing his father acting so stupid underwater.

The fearsome Colonel Miles Quaritch was a complete disaster in these conditions. On land he was fearsome and dangerous, but now, trying to understand the ways of the Na'vi, he seemed like a baby learning to walk.
