In the center of the story is the boy Ichiro Umoregi. Once in a thousand years, such an "Akuma-kun" is born on Earth: a man who has the power to create a paradise for humans and demons at the same time. Ichiro accepts this status by inheritance from his adoptive father. Together with his half—human, half-demon companion Mephisto III, he opens a private detective company. The characters investigate mysterious cases of demonic activity. Along the way, the boundaries between good and evil are blurred, and Ichiro himself plunges deeper into an internal conflict: who he is and what it means to be human.
