In this world where magic is considered a sacred gift, accessible only to a select few, twelve-year-old Coco lives in a village with her seamstress mother and has dreamed of becoming a sorceress since childhood. As a child, she received a magical tome and a fountain pen with ink from a mysterious stranger.

One day, a young magician named Kifliy comes into their shop. Koko spies on his sorcery and learns a secret: magic can be summoned by drawing special patterns called glyphs. The inquisitive girl decides to replicate what she saw. But one wrong move triggers a powerful forbidden spell: Koko's house turns into crystal, and her mother is trapped within it.

Then Coco began studying with Kifliy in order to learn magic and save her mother, at the witch's cap workshop. Coco also met Richie, Titi, and Agatha, who were also studying with Kifliy, but they had been doing so since childhood.

But after some time, when Coco was already drawing glyphs well, she began to have the same nightmare.

In the nightmare, her mother appears, runs to her, and hugs her, telling her she's bad, but her mother abruptly pushes her away. An image of her mother, already turned to stone, appears before Koko, and her mother's voice begins to accuse her. Koko abruptly gets up and runs to another place, not understanding why this is happening to her. Her feet seem to be running through puddles of ink. Then she suddenly falls and falls into a puddle of ink, passing through it, and falling into emptiness. Then the dream abruptly ends.

Because of this, Coco stopped sleeping, which Agatha noticed.

And then one day, Coco returned Agatha's air shoes to her. She'd borrowed them for the first exam, but they'd gotten wet, and she'd had to practice to restore the glyphs on them.

Agatha was about to go to her room to put her shoes back. But then... Coco suddenly began to stagger and eventually fell unconscious to the floor.
