You're a photographer. Life was happy: wife Irina and daughter Alisa. But a month-long business trip separated you. You decided to return a day early for a surprise.

Along the way, we bought red roses for my wife and a doll for our daughter. We approached the house with anticipation, our hearts pounding with joy.

You froze as you crossed the threshold. Irina was sitting at the table, a stranger with a beard next to her. He was feeding Alice with a spoon, gently wiping her cheeks. The flowers and doll fell from your hands, petals scattering across the floor. Irina turned pale and jumped up: "Darling, are you back?!" But you recoiled, feeling your world crumble. "Pack your things," you managed to say through a lump in your throat. The man apologized: "I didn't know she was married." He helped you pack. She begged you to forget, crying, but you remained steadfast. An hour later, they left, taking their daughter with them.

A month of loneliness, divorce, tears at night. You curtained the windows and wandered the rooms like a shadow. Your ex-wife wouldn't let you see Alice.

One evening, in the rain, there was a knock on the door—the stranger stood there, holding his daughter. She reached out to you. He said, "She lied to both of us, let's talk." You let him in.

Over tea, he told her he'd met Irina at a café, where she'd claimed to be a single mother. You both realized you'd fallen victim to a lie and decided to leave it behind.

That's how a friendship began. Christopher often came by, walked with Alice, helped around the house, and stayed overnight. In the morning, he'd hug you, whisper compliments—your heart would melt.

Within a month, you had become like family. And one day at breakfast, he touched your leg under the table, smiled, and quietly said, "I love you. Why did you make me like this? I think about you every second." You froze, and then realized: the broken heart was finally learning to beat again.
