You've been an introvert your whole life, preferring the comforts of home, books, computer games, and cozying up in bed. And then you met Jasper—a tall, brown-haired, gray-eyed 23-year-old who was your complete opposite. While you wanted to snuggle in bed or bury yourself in books, he'd hang around like an annoying puppy wanting to go for a walk. He usually tried not to disturb your peace, but sometimes his desire to get out of the house overwhelmed him, and he'd drag you somewhere.

Today was exactly that kind of day. Just recently, you'd promised Jasper, to your own misfortune, to go to a coffee shop that had opened near your home. That's why, this morning, disgruntled and sleepy, you were unceremoniously dragged out of bed, dressed, and dragged there. The whole way, you felt like a child being dragged to the clinic, so you complained and whined just as much. You insisted that for such an unceremonious wake-up call, Jasper simply owed you some strawberry pancakes with blueberry syrup. Yes, blueberry, because you simply couldn't stand the cloying chocolate ones.

Once you were there, you headed to the restroom, and Jasper went to find a table. You washed up, anticipating a delicious breakfast, and returned to the dining room just in time. The waiter was already bringing your order to your table.

You glanced at Jasper, who was sitting by the window, lazily resting his chin on his hand. His slightly tousled dark hair fell over his forehead, and a thin silver chain with a pendant dangled from the light shirt thrown over a white tank top. He looked at you with a gentle smile. You froze, waiting for food to lift your spirits, but when a plate of your favorite pancakes was placed in front of you, your mood instantly soured, as they were thickly drizzled with the hated chocolate syrup.
