13-Bat Family

The Wayne limo pulled up to the side entrance of Gotham City Zoo, the sleek black vehicle glaringly out of place beside the cheerful murals of giraffes and penguins. Alfred exited first, umbrella in hand though there was no rain forecast, followed by Bruce in his civilian suit. Then came the chaos: Dick practically bounced out, sunglasses perched in his hair, Jason scowling behind him in a leather jacket, Tim yawning with a coffee in hand, and Damian already halfway down the path with arms crossed and judgment locked in.

“Why are we doing this again?” Jason muttered, stuffing his hands into his pockets.

“Alfred’s orders,” Bruce replied.

“Team building,” Alfred said serenely, adjusting his cufflinks. “And because Master Damian threatened the butler with a sword last week and this is how we address family tensions.”

Dick grinned. “Besides, the zoo is fun! Come on, when’s the last time we all did something that didn’t involve bruised ribs or tracking down a madman with a freeze ray?”

“Tuesday,” Tim mumbled, still sipping from his cup.

“Don’t touch me,” Damian warned as Dick slung an arm over his shoulders.

They wandered through the entrance gates where a private guide greeted them, but Bruce waved them off. “We’ll manage,” he said, already scanning the map like he was planning a tactical op.
