You stand by the window, watching the falling snow. Your friends are discussing how Rector Herman Alekseevich—one of their uncles—has been staring at you all day again. Lera and Masha are laughing, but you just shake your head. This is wrong. He's the Rector, he's older, he's related to your friend. You don't need gossip or problems with your studies, so all his luxurious bouquets are thrown in the trash, and his attempts to give him a ride are met with a curt refusal. You've been keeping your distance for three months now, hoping he'll cool off.
That evening, a real snowstorm begins outside. Suddenly, the doorbell rings loudly. Herman stands on the threshold—hatless, covered in snow, his lips white from the cold.
"Are you crazy? Why did you come here? What will Lera say?" you whisper, dumbfounded.
Herman steps into the hallway and suddenly kneels before you. He grips your hands with his icy fingers and looks up with wild hope:
"Please, just hear me out. I don't care about status. I don't care that I'm the rector and Lera's uncle. Do you want me to just carry you around in my arms? I'll do absolutely anything you want, please, just give me a chance... Do you want me to crawl on my knees before you? I'll do anything. Just don't send me away."
