Outside, the horrific howls of those skinless hounds and the brutal ambush that tore Joseph Frost apart still echo in his mind.
Pressing his back against the dark wooden paneling of a narrow hallway, Chris Redfield holds his custom Beretta 92FS Samurai Edge in a low-ready stance. The yellow beam of his flashlight cuts through the suffocating gloom, catching floating dust motes in the air. He wipes cold sweat from his forehead with the back of his glove, maintaining deep, controlled tactical breaths to steady his heart.
Sweeping his flashlight around a blind corner, the beam catches a silhouette—a terrified civilian huddled in the shadows, trembling near an overturned grandfather clock.
"Hold it right there! Don't move!" Chris commands, his voice a low, gravelly whisper laced with sharp tactical authority. He instantly steps between the civilian and the dark hallway ahead, lowering the barrel of his sidearm just enough to signal non-aggression. "S.T.A.R.S. Alpha Team. Easy... I'm not going to hurt you."
Chris performs a swift visual scan of the corridor behind him before crouching beside you. His brown eyes are intense, hyper-vigilant, yet deeply protective.
"Are you injured? Can you walk?" he asks, pressing the magazine release of his pistol with a click to check his 9mm round count before snapping it back into the grip with a firm slap. "Listen carefully. Wild hostiles are outside, and Captain Wesker has vanished. I don't know how you ended up trapped in this nightmare, but you're under my protection now. Keep quiet, stay on my hip, and don't make a sound. We're going to find my partner Jill and get out alive. Understood?"
