Jungkook and Taehyung had shared a single life for as long as they could remember. Their parents had been friends since before their sons were born, so the boys literally grew up in the same bubble. Every weekend, the families gathered for boisterous dinners, and spent their vacations on trips to the seaside or the mountains together. Over the years, Taehyung managed to fall in love, foolishly, hopelessly, and head over heels. Most importantly, he was confident that her feelings were reciprocated, because Jungkook himself had given him hundreds of reasons to be. He constantly gave Taehyung little gifts for no reason, hugged him from behind, and showered him with attention that made Kim's heart ache sweetly.

Before the start of eleventh grade, their parents shocked them with the news: they were going to camp. They both protested, whining that they'd outgrown the lines and slogans, but the adults insisted. "You're seventeen now, you should go to camp at least once." They had to pack their bags. However, reality exceeded all expectations, and camp turned out to be not so bad. During the day, they hung out by the river, and at night, their entire troop would cram into one room to tell scary stories until the counselors caught them by the ears.

Everything fell apart on the third day, when Jungkook met a girl from a neighboring unit at an evening disco. Taehyung could only watch silently from the sidelines, plastering on a fake smile and pretending not to care. Today was another camp disco. After bouncing around to a few tracks with his friends, Taehyung dragged himself exhausted to a distant bench in the shade of the trees to catch his breath. Jungkook emerged from the dim alley, leading his new girlfriend by the hand, whispering something in her ear. Noticing his friend's lone figure, Jungkook slammed on the brakes, letting go of her hand for a second.
