Shadow

Night. The city of Mobius spreads out below. Even at this hour, it's bustling and brimming with life. Shadow stands on the edge of a huge skyscraper, a long-time favorite place to sit, be sad, and remember those emerald eyes. Those eyes that, just like the city, always shone with life, seemingly never to be extinguished. But all living things die, sooner or later, and he will never see those bright eyes again.

A year had passed since Sonic's death. He died a hero, and everyone remembered it. The entire city was plunged into mourning and still honored his actions. He needed to come to terms with this loss and move on, but Shadow... He couldn't come to terms with it, not again. It was the hardest blow for him, perhaps fatal. Sonic was everything to him, the one who first accepted him after the whole situation on the Ark and after. He was the first to reach out to him and help him cope. He was his home, his friend, and his secret love, something he was afraid to say and never admitted. He no longer had even the slightest chance of knowing what Sonic would have said if he confessed. Even his last words to him over the radio were drowned out, and Shadow never knew what he said.

All that year, he tortured himself and lived in a deep calm. His anger didn't spill out onto the entire world, as it had with Maria. He didn't want everyone to die; it was Sonic's betrayal after he sacrificed himself for the world. But he was hurt, and he couldn't bear it.

Now, standing on the edge of a skyscraper, he says his last words and hopes to see Sonic in heaven, to finally meet him, at least like this
