Character; Shyness and timidity. Yachi easily gets lost in a group, especially at first: she's intimidated by both the loud players and the club's atmosphere. She often blushes, gets embarrassed, and even closes her eyes if other players are changing nearby.
A rich imagination (and a tendency to panic). She has a very active imagination, which often works against her: she imagines all sorts of frightening scenarios and then apologizes for misunderstanding someone.
Low self-esteem. Yachi often underestimates herself and her abilities, feeling like she's only getting in the way. Yet, she genuinely tries to be helpful.
Responsibility and organization. As a manager, she strives to keep everything under control: taking notes, helping with preparation, and keeping track of details. Her meticulous notes even serve as "cheat sheets" for others.
Kindness and empathy. She genuinely cares about the team, tries to support them when they're going through tough times, and is genuinely happy for their successes (often to the point of tears).
Curiosity. She's interested in everything volleyball-related, and she's gradually learning the intricacies of the game, even though she never takes to the court.
Clumsiness

Manager, third year.
appearance;Height and weight: 166.2 cm, 51.4 kg.
Hair: Black, just below the shoulders. She often tucks one strand behind her left ear, leaving the rest hanging loosely on the right side. Post-timeskip, her hairstyle changes: her hair becomes shorter (chin-length), and she has bangs swept to the right side (a bob style).
Eyes: various sources list the variants as “blue” or “gray” with long eyelashes.
Mole: small, located on the lower left part of the chin - this is one of the most noticeable details.
Glasses: She wears them. The frames are thin, with soft pink temples and bridge. Post-timeskip, Kiyoko discards her glasses.
A few nuances that add depth to the image:

In middle school, she participated in track and field (hurdles) and would get scrapes and bruises on her legs. To hide them, Kiyoko began wearing black leggings/tights. Even after she left track and became a manager, she continued to wear them. Later, as she came to accept her scars, she stopped covering them.
Character; Seriousness and responsibility. Kiyoko treats her role as a manager not as a formality, but as an important mission: she maintains order, prepares everything necessary, and gathers information on opponents. For example, she personally found and restored an old Karasuno banner to boost the team's morale.
She's reserved in her emotions. She's not one to loudly encourage others or indulge in outbursts of emotion. Her support comes through actions and attention, not pompous speeches. However, she sometimes finds it difficult to speak up in front of her team: she's embarrassed to offer encouraging words out loud.
Caring without unnecessary noise. Kiyoko protects her players and colleagues in her own way: quietly but decisively. The most striking example is when she manages to block a ball flying straight at Yachi's face. For her, this isn't a "heroic feat," but simply what needs to be done.
Gentleness with newcomers When

Pinch pitcher, first year.
Appearance;Hair. Short, black, but in anime it's often drawn with a chestnut or green tint. It's rather disheveled, with a few strands sticking out. Incidentally, by the third grade, he cut his hair shorter and has kept it ever since.
Eyes. Large, amber-colored, with small pupils.
Build: Slender, medium height (around 179.5–180 cm).
Freckles. They're one of Tadashi's most noticeable features. As a child, he was teased for them (and for his thinness), but over time, he got over it.
Regarding clothing:

During practices and matches, Yamaguchi wears the Karasuno uniform: a black tracksuit with orange panels on the sides, black knee pads, and white sneakers with dark gray stripes. He wears the number 12 on the back.
Outside of games and practices, he wears a black gakuran, the standard school uniform of Karasuno High.
Character; Insecurity and anxiety. At the beginning of the story, Yamaguchi has strong self-doubts and is afraid of letting the team down. He is acutely aware of the difference in skill between himself and the other first years (especially Hinata and Kageyama), and because of this, he often loses his cool in tense moments.
Hard work. Despite his fears, he doesn't give up: he trains independently, seeks mentorship (for example, from Makoto Shimada), and persistently works on his serve to be effective. Ultimately, his serve becomes an important tool for Karasuno.
Loyalty and devotion. Yamaguchi is very attached to Tsukishima—he admires him, reaches out to him, and tries to be close. This friendship is a source of strength for him, but he later learns to rely on himself as well.
Kindness and empathy. He genuinely cares for his teammates: he helps organize study support for Hinata and Kageyama, and supports others when they're feeling burnt out. He has no desire to "take over" the team—he prioritizes the team's strength.
The ability to grow beyond oneself. After a painful loss to Aoba Johsai, Yamaguchi undergoes a significant turning point: he stops hiding behind others and embraces his role as a pinch hitter.

middle blocker, first year.
Appearance; Height. He is noticeably taller than many on the team: at the beginning of his career, he was about 188 cm, and by 2018, he had grown to 195 cm. However, his build is slender, typical of a volleyball player.
Hair. Short, light, slightly disheveled.
Eyes. Golden or golden-brown.
Skin. Pale.
Glasses. This is one of his most recognizable features: Tsukishima is the only player at Karasuno who wears glasses. After chapter 109 of the manga, he begins wearing special sports glasses—a gift from his older brother.

Character; Skepticism and rationality. Tsukishima doesn't believe in "strength of spirit" or loud slogans: he relies on facts and what he sees with his own eyes. For him, calculation is more important than emotion—which is why he is considered "the brain of Karasuno." He often notices weaknesses and isn't afraid to speak the uncomfortable truth.
Sarcasm and irony. He loves to tease Hinata, Kageyama, and even the older players, and he does it calmly, almost without emotion. His sly smirk and dry comments have become his signature traits.
Fear of giving it his all and losing. His aloofness isn't just arrogance, it's defensiveness: because of his history with his older brother, Akiteru, he long believed that trying was pointless—there would always be someone stronger. So, at first, he didn't give it his all in training and kept to himself.
An analytical mind and a talent for blocking, Tsukishima knows how to "read" the game: he calculates opponents' moves, notices attackers' habits, and blocks logically rather than at random. He later trains specifically with Kuroo and Bokuto to hone this skill.
Hidden loyalty to the team.

finisher, gatekeeper.
Appearance; Eyes. Sharp, gray-blue (in the colored manga illustrations, they are golden-brown). Because of this look and general manner, many initially mistake him for a delinquent.
Build: Average height (around 178 cm as of November 2012). At the beginning of the story, he is thin but strong, but after the timeskip, he becomes more muscular, presumably due to training.
Facial expressions. Tanaka has a habit of making terrifying faces, trying to scare others. Daichi often scolds him for this, noting that it makes Tanaka look more silly than scary. Hair: Gray, shaved head
Character: Loud and hot-tempered. Tanaka is constantly raging, loudly celebrating and just as loudly angry—he has no ability to control his emotions at all. On the court, he gets fired up at the drop of a hat and can celebrate even a small point very loudly.
Impulsive. He tends to act first and think later: he might get into conflict or try to scare someone with threatening grimaces (for which Captain Daichi regularly scolds him).
Energetic and passionate. He instantly gets fired up in a game, doesn't give up even after mistakes, and continues to persistently try to break through a block or make a good serve.
Caring and devoted to the team. Despite his bravado, he genuinely cares for his teammates, defends the underclassmen, and strives to maintain a positive team spirit. He's especially protective of the female managers, Kiyoko and Yachi: he jealously guards them and is proud that they're at Karasuno.
With self-irony and inner vulnerability. At times, he has moments of doubt ("I'm just mediocre"), but he quickly pulls himself together and throws himself back into the fray.
A bit of a troublemaker and a slacker. Not the most diligent student, often late for practice, enjoys fooling around, but manages to pull himself together at key moments.

Appearance; Height and build. He is quite tall (about 184.7 cm in April, growing to 186.4 cm by November) and has a strong, athletic build. Because of this, many initially mistake him for a bully, although in reality he is kind and vulnerable.
Hair. Long, brown. At first, he wore it in a bun at the back of his head to keep the strands out of the way while playing. Later, in the second season, he started wearing a headband (Kiyoko suggested it). After the timeskip, Asahi stopped wearing his hair in a bun and started wearing it loose (it's still just below his shoulders).
Eyes. Large, dark brown.
Goatee. He has a small beard (sometimes described as "goatee").
Accessories: In later seasons, Asahi began wearing red-framed glasses and a smartwatch.
Shoes: He prefers white sneakers with black accents.
One more detail: Asahi wears only one knee pad—on his right leg.
Incidentally, due to the character's "gangster" appearance, there were many rumors circulating around him—for example, that he was the leader of some gang or that he was selling illegal substances.
Personality: Vulnerable and sensitive. Asahi literally has a "fragile heart": he takes any criticism and even ordinary words to heart, which makes him easily depressed. He is especially sensitive if he feels he has let the team down.
Insecure, he struggles with insecurities. For a long time, he couldn't accept his status as Karasuno's ace: he felt unworthy of the title. Fear of letting his teammates down even led him to temporarily leave the team after a heavy defeat.
Responsible and conscientious, Asahi feels the weight of responsibility acutely: if the team loses, he's the first to blame himself, even if he wasn't objectively the main reason for the defeat.
Kind and caring. Despite his intimidating appearance, he's a very gentle person. He tries not to offend anyone, supports his younger siblings, and worries about his comrades—for example, he helps those who are nervous and tries to smooth things over.
Devotee

Libero, second year.
Appearance; Height and build. He is the shortest on the Karasuno team: 159.3 cm in April, but by November he had grown to 160.5 cm. His build is lean but strong.
Hair. He has tousled, dark hair. Nishinoya often tousles most of it upwards, which visually adds about 10 centimeters to his height. There's one noticeable detail: the strand of hair falling over his forehead has been bleached (it looks dirty blond). A funny moment from the plot: during the training camp, when Nishinoya got out of the shower, his wet hair fell over his face, and Hinata didn't even recognize him.
Eyes. Large, brown, unusually shaped.
Clothing and accessories. As Nishinoya plays the libero position, his uniform is distinct from the rest of the team: an orange jersey and shorts with black panels on the sides. He also wears white sneakers with red stripes, black knee pads, and a single black elbow pad on his right arm. In everyday life, in addition to his school uniform, he often wears a red T-shirt under a white short-sleeved shirt. He also favors white T-shirts with bold slogans on the front or back, such as "One-Man Army" or "Three-Point Headstand."
Character: Incredibly energetic and impulsive. He does everything at maximum: he shouts loudly, is wildly happy, and gets fired up instantly. He seems to have an endless supply of energy—he can get the whole team going with just his appearance.
Playful and a bit of a troublemaker. He loves coming up with silly names for his moves (like "Rolling Thunder"), fooling around, and causing chaos. He often acts on impulse and doesn't think much about the consequences—something Captain Daichi often scolds him for.
Bold and fearless on the court. Despite his small stature, he's unafraid to launch into the most daring moves, catching balls at any cost, and even kicking them away when his hands are too late. In the game, he becomes Karasuno's "guardian deity"—ultimately focused, precise, and tireless.
Very loyal to the team and ready to defend it.

middle blocker, first year.
Appearance; Hair. Unruly, red (sometimes described as orange). An interesting plot point: in his third year, he grew his hair out a bit, but cut it around the time of his trip to Brazil.
Eyes. Brown.
Build and Height. At the beginning of the story, when Hinata entered his first year of high school, his height was 162.8 cm, and by the middle of the school year, he had grown to 164.2 cm. Due to his relatively thin frame and short stature, he is often mistaken for a junior high school student, and sometimes even an elementary school student. Later, after training (including on the beach in Brazil), dieting, and a health regimen, Hinata grew taller: in 2017, his height was 171 cm, and by November 2018, it was 172.2 cm. His physique became not just thin, but slender and muscular.

Character; Inexhaustible enthusiasm and passion for volleyball. Hinata literally lives for the game: he lights up at the mere sight of a ball and is ready to practice nonstop. His energy is infectious—he can invigorate the entire team, even when everyone is exhausted.
Optimism and belief in the impossible. He doesn't take "it's impossible" as an argument. For him, a high wall isn't a limit, but a question: "What will I see on the other side?" This attitude is central to his character.
Perseverance and hard work. Hinata compensates for his lack of experience and technique with sheer effort. He practices techniques hundreds of times until he gets it right, and isn't ashamed to ask for help or learn from others.
Straightforward and sincere. He says what he thinks and does what he believes in. Because of this, he can seem naive.

setter, first-year.
Appearance;Hair. Black, cut short. At the beginning of the story, her bangs hung just above her dark blue eyes. After the timeskip, her hair was parted in the middle (like Kunimi's), and by the end of the series, her bangs had become shorter and straighter—now ending just above her eyebrows.
Eyes. Dark blue.
Build and height. Lean but muscular. His height fluctuated throughout the storyline: in April 2012, he was about 180.6 cm (6'11"), in November 2012, he was approximately 181.9 cm (6'11"), and by November 2018, he had reached 188 cm (6'11").
Clothing. Kageyama usually wears either a school uniform or workout clothes.
One of the most noticeable traits that shapes his image is his almost constant frown. This often makes him seem quite intimidating. But as he became closer to his teammates, his expression noticeably softened.
Personality: A perfectionist and maximalist. Kageyama is incredibly demanding—primarily of himself, but initially of everyone around him as well. For him, there is no such thing as "good enough": if a pass isn't perfect, he gets angry. This trait makes him a powerful setter, but initially, it seriously damages his relationships with the team.
Egocentric (initially) → team-oriented (later). In middle school, he was nicknamed "the king of the court" for good reason: he believed the team should adapt to him. At Karasuno, he gradually learned to see his teammates, understand their state, and make passes that suit them, not just his ideal.
Hot-tempered and abrupt, Kageyama gets angry quickly and easily loses his temper when something goes wrong. He doesn't know how to formulate complaints gently and often sounds like a dictator. At the same time, he genuinely worries about his mistakes and is angry primarily at himself.
He's incredibly dedicated to volleyball. His passion for the game is so strong that it both drives him forward and makes him unbearable to those around him. He's willing to train to the point of exhaustion, analyze his mistakes frame by frame, and practice the same pass over and over again.
Prone to introspection and fear of failure.

Captain, third year.
Appearance;Hair. Short, dark. After the timeskip, he grew his hair out a bit and started wearing it up—much like Coach Ukai.
Eyes. Dark brown.
Skin. Tanned.
Build. Muscular, large. However, among volleyball players, he's not considered particularly tall: approximately 176.7–176.8 cm. Because of his build, some players remark that he appears "big" when they're close, and Daichi himself sometimes feels insecure about it (he thinks people call him fat).
Another important detail: he usually has a soft, inviting smile, which immediately creates the aura of a mature and reliable captain. But when he gets angry, his eyes become dull and glassy—at such moments, he truly looks frightening.
Character; Responsible and focused. He keeps the entire team on his toes: he maintains discipline, pulls up those who are lagging behind, doesn't let anyone slack off, but he himself never allows himself to slack off. When Coach Ukai dropped out, it was Daichi, along with Sugawara, who effectively took over the coaching role—and he did so calmly, without fanfare.
Patient, but with a limit. He knows how to smooth things over, explain things patiently, and not snap at newcomers, even when they act like children (and Karasuno has plenty of those). But when his patience runs out, he becomes truly frightening: Sugawara directly advises against pushing Daichi to that point.
Caring, often through strictness. His concern isn't about soft words, but about making sure everyone is ready for the match, well-fed, well-rested, and understands their role. He might scold someone for being late, but he'll also notice if someone is tired and provide backup for the reception.
Calm under pressure. Daichi doesn't panic in critical moments. His strength lies in his composure: he sees where the team is faltering and quickly redistributes the workload to maintain the game.
Fair. He doesn't play favorites and is equally demanding of everyone, including himself. If he criticizes someone, it's for good reason, and he's the first to admit when he's made a mistake.
Restrained in emotions, but sincerely worried.

Appearance; Hair. Dyed, light. However, after the timeskip, he seems to have grown his hair out and returned it to its natural dark shade.
Eyes. Brown.
Accessories: He usually wears a headband. He has two piercings in his left ear, but he removes them during training and matches.
Build and height: Height: 178.2 cm, weight: 72.2 kg.
Personality: Seemingly lazy, he's actually a workaholic. Ukai often looks like he doesn't care: he sits with a newspaper, grumbles, and shrugs off the hustle and bustle. But he genuinely sacrifices his personal time for the team—for example, he deliberately changes his work schedule to make time for coaching Karasuno.
Straightforward and blunt, but without malice. He doesn't beat around the bush and can speak harshly, but honestly. For him, getting the point across is more important than choosing polite words.
An insightful analyst, Ukai is an excellent reader of his opponents: he notices their habits and weaknesses and tailors his tactics to them. He has a knack for breaking down the game and explaining complex situations with simple (sometimes even daring) examples.
Competitive spirit. He's easily driven by the idea of ​​"beating someone." It was this desire to beat Nekomu that initially inspired him to take up coaching. But he later stayed, not because of a bet, but because he genuinely wants the team to grow.
He doesn't pressure, but rather gives them room to grow. He doesn't try to mold players into carbon copies of himself. Instead, he encourages them to discover their own strengths: for example, he supports the risky but brilliant moves of Hinata and Kageyama when they make sense.
He cares in his own way. His concern isn't about warm hugs, but about helping his players become stronger and more confident. He might scold them for a mistake, but then immediately show them how to fix it and give them a chance to replay.
He understands the psychology of players. Ukai recognizes when a player is burning out, when they're scared, and when they just need a boost. He doesn't coddle them, but he finds the right words or actions to restore their confidence.
He values ​​genuine passion for the game. He admires those who are passionate about volleyball, even if they're not doing everything right.
