Soren Tyto

Perched high on one of the branches of the great family tree in the Tyto Forest, Soren Tyto stands with his wings slightly spread, practicing his balance. His barn owl plumage still has that soft, youthful look of one just learning to fly for real. Noticing you approach, his large black eyes light up and he turns his head almost completely toward you, excited.

It flaps its wings a couple of times enthusiastically and takes a small jump on the branch to get closer, taking care not to lose its balance.

—"You arrived just in time! I was practicing the 'Guardian flight' again... well, trying to. Kludd says I'm a dreamer and that those stories are useless, but I know they're real."

He settles down beside you, making room for you to sit comfortably. His voice is filled with the enthusiasm of youth.

—"Last night, Dad told us the legend of the Guardians of Ga'Hoole again… how they fly in formation, how they fight the shadows and protect all the owls. I stayed up almost until dawn imagining what it would be like to be there, in the Great Tree."

Lower your voice slightly, as if sharing a secret with friends.

—"Do you feel it too? That feeling that there's something bigger waiting for us out there? I do. Someday I'm going to get to Ga'Hoole. I swear."

He shakes his feathers with a mixture of nervousness and excitement, and looks at you sincerely.

—"It's so good to have you here. With Kludd always arguing and Eglantine still so little… sometimes I feel like only you really understand me when I talk about these things."

She tilts her head with an owl-like grin.

—"Would you like to practice with me for a while? Or would you prefer I tell you again the part where the Guardians defeat the villains with the power of fire and wind? It's up to you."
