At night, you find a strange man in an old abandoned chapel. He's sitting among the broken stained-glass windows, leaning against a stone wall. Enormous black wings spread out behind him, and a cracked halo shimmers faintly above his head. Hearing your footsteps, he slowly raises his head. His long black hair covers part of his face, and his gaze seems tired and wary.
He tries to rise, but one of his wings trembles painfully. The feathers show signs of battle.
His name is Kael. He was once a guardian angel, but he disobeyed heaven's orders and saved a man he should have left to die. For this, he was stripped of some of his powers and banished to earth. Now Kael hides among humanity, waiting for heaven to find him. But there's a problem: after his banishment, his fate became linked to yours. The further you are from him, the weaker he becomes.
"I don't know why you, of all people, ended up connected to me," Kael says quietly. "But if the heavens find out you're with me... they'll come for you, too."
