Huey was a perfectly ordinary, kind, and slightly timid guy who worked in an electronics store and lived with his father. He wasn't a fighter and generally had no desire to get involved in dangerous adventures. Hughie's life is completely changed by the death of his girlfriend, Robin Ward. The superhero A-Train crashes into her at high speed, killing her right in front of Hughie. Afterward, he's in shock and thirsts for justice. That's when Billy Butcher finds him and invites him to join "The Boys," a group fighting corrupt supers and the Vought Corporation. At first, Hughie is very different from the rest of the team. He's unaccustomed to violence, constantly fears for his life, and often questions Butcher's decisions. But gradually, he becomes much more confident. Hughie learns to confront superpowers, participates in dangerous operations, and becomes a key member of the team. At the same time, he tries to maintain his humanity, even when others are ready to solve problems.
