Always chasing shadows... Umamusume is a complete mystery.

A mysterious girl who blends into the shadows... and talks to them. She can often be found clinging to walls, drawing strange patterns with her fingertips. However, according to her, she's always with her "friend." She enjoys savoring a good cup of coffee, as drinking it too quickly gives her a stomachache.

Cafe's most striking feature is her long, jet-black hair. The ends are perfectly straight, with bangs framing her face. She has incredibly long bangs, swept to one side, covering her left eye. A large, curled white streak adorns the top of her head. On the right side of her jet-black ears, she wears a gold earring with a rectangular teal pendant. She has pale yellow eyes with a single, yet unsettling, black pupil in the center.

As for her race outfit, she wears a knee-length black coat with intricate gold trim along the sides and gold pockets. Underneath, she wears a long-sleeved black shirt with gold stripes at the cuffs and black gloves. Beneath this shirt, she wears a white collared shirt, tied with a yellow tie with black stripes at the end and two stars, one turquoise and one black, in the center. She wears a simple black choker around her neck. She wears a pleated black skirt with gold embellishments and white trim at the hem. A black belt with gold chains is tied at the waist over the shirt. On her legs, she wears black stockings, the right shin decorated with gold diamonds. She wears simple white loafers with black heels.

Agnes Tachyon: classmate, rival, and... friend? The two spend a lot of time together. Tachyon constantly pesters Cafe to be her guinea pig, and Cafe often has to rebuff her, as well as bail her out of trouble. They've turned an abandoned classroom into their hangout. Despite their differences, they care for each other. Cafe worries about her when she tries to leave Tracen Academy, while Tachyon tries to stop her from going to France in Cafe's career storyline. Cafe is also the only person Tachyon doesn't call with the "-kun" suffix, which shows the great respect she has for her. Cafe is also the only one who can intimidate Tachyon.

Dantsu Flame: classmate, friend, and rival.

Jungle Pocket: classmate, friend, and rival.

Yukino Bijin - Friend and roommate. The two spend a lot of time together, and it seems that Yukino's cheerful attitude usually calms Cafe down.

Red Desire is her friend and classmate. She admires her and considers her a role model as an Umamusume, also capable of perceiving other worlds. Manhattan Cafe advises her and, as a long-distance runner, helps Red Desire in long-distance races like the Japanese Oaks. They occasionally have coffee together.

Zenno Rob Roy - Friend and classmate from a lower grade. Both Cafe and Rob Roy enjoy reading stories, although the stories Cafe likes often scare Rob Roy.

Manhattan Cafe was a Japanese racehorse active from 2001 to 2002. Nicknamed the "Skyscraper that rises above the turf," Manhattan Cafe won all three of the Grade 1 races he entered in Japan and was a successful Grade 1 winner, producing stallions and broodmares. Regular jockey Masayoshi Ebina commented on his "calm demeanor, atypical of the progeny of Sunday Silence." He was one of the five horses in the "Strongest Generation" of Japanese horse racing, along with Agnes Tachyon, Jungle Pocket, Kurofune, and Dantsu Flame. He shares the 2001 Triple Crown with Agnes Tachyon and Jungle Pocket, having won the Kikuka Sho.

Owner Kiyoshi Nishikawa decided on the name after trainer Futoshi Kojima pointed out that horses with the "Cafe" suffix tended to have more success with him. "Manhattan Cafe" would be the fifth time Nishikawa used the "Cafe" clan suffix.

The Tracen Academy curriculum spans from middle school through high school. In addition, students participate in specialized career training with dedicated coaches, enabling them to compete in top-level professional sports. Under the tutelage of a coach, most students dedicate themselves to competing in the "Twinkle Series," a three-year career where they compete against other Tracen students and, sometimes, in international races, striving for prestige and stardom. It is unclear how long one can remain enrolled at Tracen Academy, as Symboli Rudolf studied there before some characters and continued as a student beyond his three-year career.

General Description: With a campus of approximately 800,000 square meters, the school has around 2,000 students. It is unknown whether it is a private or public school, but there are numerous cases of Umamusume students transferring from regional training centers after passing an exam and an interview, as well as participating in a race, although there are exceptions. Such was the case of Haru Urara, who failed her applications but was accepted thanks to her positive energy during the interview. Another example is Oguri Cap, who was recruited directly by Symboli RudolfenCinderella Gray without having to take any exams. It is worth noting that, in this case, tuition fees would not be an issue, as his mother mentioned that "[the fees] are nothing compared to what is spent on food."

There are also Umamusumes who pursue career paths outside of racing, such as Belno Light, who entered the school after passing the entrance exam for its Sports Science Program.

As for the instructors, it seems to be more difficult for them than for the students.

Student residences (Ritto and Miho)
Most students live in student residences, with a few exceptions. Each residence has a designated supervisor (Fuji Kiseki for Ritto and Hishi Amazon for Miho) who oversees the residence.
Each room is assigned two students, usually of the same age, but high school and college students can share a room.
Student residences have their own amenities, including living rooms, study rooms, and kitchens.
Coaches are generally prohibited from accessing these areas, but may enter if necessary, at the discretion of the student residence managers.

Fields/Gardens
The fields on Tracen Academy's property are sometimes used as part of the classes. The beautification committee, along with Air Groove, grows flowers for the flowerbeds.
For the time being, it is known that off-site training is taking place at the summer camp on the beach.

There is also a student council, which seems to have more authority than real-life student councils, as it is directly involved in the school's management. In both the game and the anime, the president is Symboli Rudolf, with Air Groove and Narita Brian as vice presidents.

The graduation requirements are unknown, but Light Hello and Sonon Elfie are said to be alumni of the school.

However, Gold Ship, who transferred to the "Dream Trophy" league in the anime, is still enrolled.

It appears that most of the compulsory subjects required for a combined junior and senior high school are taught at Tracen Academy, in addition to subjects such as History of Careers, Career Strategy, and Sports Nutrition. [6]
