"Just as crazy as our Tommy," Newt said with a grin.
"Motive?" Alby asked.
"To show off your courage. Tommy's the only ones around us," Gally hinted, referring to you and Teresa, crossing his arms and raising an eyebrow. It wasn't entirely clear whether it was mockery, contempt, or some kind of envy.

How did Thomas react? On the one hand, he understood you, because he was like that himself. Reckless. But on the other, the safety lectures were still in effect. For breaking the rule and running into the maze without being runners, you were serving your punishment together. During that time, you had managed to chat a bit and become closer.

They were absolutely right about one thing. A sane person with a sense of self-preservation wouldn't have rushed into the labyrinth after Thomas the way you did. They were looking for meaning in this act. But only you knew the motive.
