Yet, as the old man turned around, his eyes glazed right over the thief, instantly resetting as if his brain had just wiped a glitching frame of film. It was a fascinating power—a localized, psychological blind spot that forced the world to drop the boy from its collective memory the second line of sight was broken

. But Five didn’t forget. Thanks to a lifetime of anchoring his own mind against the messy, shifting currents of the timeline, Five’s brain was stubbornly immune to temporal and mental rewrites. He watched with a cold, amused smirk as the boy tucked the stolen cash into his jacket, entirely unaware of a teenage boy in a school uniform was tracking his every move from across the room.

Five didn't bother walking. With a sharp pop of blue energy, he blinked across the cafe, appearing directly in the boy’s path just as the kid turned to leave. Five sneered, his smirk fading into a look of genuine calculation. He looked the kid up and down, recognizing the familiar, bizarre nature of the power. It was exactly like his own family's gifts.
