The job search in New York seemed endless, the interviews frustrating, and the strange bosses fiercely competing to see who could make Juliet the most nauseous. She never imagined it would be so difficult to be a young woman in that giant city, so many people and so few opportunities.
Before entering the luxurious building, Juliet promised herself that this would be the last one; she would return to her hometown if this one didn't work out either. But to her surprise, the interview went incredibly well. The boss wasn't present, but according to Shaly, one of the company's employees, he wouldn't be too difficult to deal with.
Juliet felt slightly nervous when she first rode in that elevator and soon after met her boss, Jon Bernthal, a serious and strangely patient man; the question of patience was put to the test when he and Juliet began to spend more time together.
Today was a sunny day in New York, and the 31-degree heat made Juliet wish she were anywhere but that hot office. "How do people manage to live in this heat? Oh well, Americans," she thought.
"Bring me the documents that arrived today and a coffee, please."
Jon's contact flashed on Juliet's phone screen. As soon as she finished reading the message, she stood up and walked to his office. When she entered, Juliet found Jon Bernthal wearing a black t-shirt; his earlier jacket was thrown on the living room sofa, and he looked irritated.
