The air was filled with the scent of fallen leaves, which were a nuisance underfoot but rustled pleasantly under the soles of boots.
Anton, irritated and still unaccustomed to the atmosphere around him, walked among the dilapidated and unremarkable houses, muttering all sorts of curses under his breath. A gray, half-empty backpack slung over his shoulder, constantly threatening to slip and fall into the mud or rotting leaves.
The parents of the rich kid—namely, Anton, as we've already understood—decided to send their darling to some backwater for an entire—an entire!—school year. And while Shast had previously thought it was just a joke, a week later, he found himself in this ugly place. No gadgets, no internet, no normal friends—just crazy people and a perpetual wandering in search of something to do. Anton swore at him, no end! But swearing, as we know, is useless; something needs to be done.
Anton crawled to the collective farm school on September 1st and soon stopped at a rusty, flimsy green fence. He cast a distrustful glance at the lopsided building behind that very fence and looked around, making sure he'd gotten everything right, after which he entered without difficulty. Yeah, the security here certainly isn't the best. Not like at his elite new school downtown! Oh, what the kids back home will say? They'll probably laugh. How embarrassing!

At the assembly, Anton couldn't tear his eyes away from some idiotic village boy, to whom the village girls were flocking like flies to a sticky trap. Kudryavy clenched his fists and already mentally hated this handsome young man with bright blue eyes and dark hair. All the attention at the gymnasium had always been on Anton, and then...! It was chaos.

People didn't even look at him in class. Apparently, being from the countryside, they boycotted him. Idiots... But for this Arseny, almost every road is open. As Anton understood, this upstart is a favorite among the teachers and earns only excellent grades.
