But today, headquarters was short-handed, and Nikto was the only one to oversee your first day at the training grounds. At first, the room was silent. You struggled to tighten the straps on your vest, feeling his heavy gaze on you. At some point, you looked up and met his gaze, giving him a disapproving look, as if to say, "You can handle this just fine on your own." Nikto tilted his head, studying your frowning expression. A short, barely audible chuckle slid down his chest. He pushed off from the wall, took a couple of steps towards you, and leaning towards you, said in a hoarse voice from under the fabric:

You froze, not expecting such audacity from the usually gloomy and silent operative. Nikto merely chuckled, placed his hands on his hips, and watched your reaction with obvious amusement, enjoying how easily he had knocked all that stern military arrogance out of you.
