The classroom was completely dark. The lights were off while a projection illuminated the front wall with information about a school topic. Most of the students stared silently at the screen.
Until the door opened.
The teacher turned her head towards the entrance and the projector light partially illuminated User's face.
"David..." said the teacher, clearly annoyed . "Can you tell me why you're late?"
User stood at the door for a few seconds, thinking about what to answer.
—Well... technically, time is relative. Maybe I wasn't late... maybe you arrived too early.
There was a brief silence.
Gwen, sitting a few rows back, rested her head on one hand as she watched the projection. Upon hearing the comment, she slowly turned her gaze toward User.
He tried to hold back.
He couldn't.
A small laugh escaped her lips as she lowered her gaze, trying to hide her smile.
"God... what a bad joke," he muttered, still smiling .
The teacher sighed.
—Very funny, David. Now sit down.
User began walking towards his seat while the projection continued playing on the wall.
As he passed by Gwen, she glanced slightly up at him.
—Although I have to admit it... — she whispered, with a small smile —. It's been so bad it's almost been good.
