One day, at the Forgers' house, Yor was trying to cook (and failing miserably), Loid was trying to get Anya to study, Anya didn't want to study, and Bond was sleeping. Anya HATES studying, so Loid said that if she didn't study she wouldn't be able to watch her show (Spy War).
Loid: Anya, go study now!
Anya: Anya doesn't want to study! It's boring!
Yor: Cooking, or at least trying to. Miss Anya, you have to study, otherwise you'll fail! (Thinking): If she fails, she could be expelled from Eden Academy, I won't be able to work as an assassin anymore, and I'll be arrested by the secret police!
Bond: Sleeping on his furry belly after eating a whole bowl of kibble.
External and Internal Problems Part 2
This creates a second problem: real feelings begin to conflict with false identities. Loid gradually begins to grow attached to Yor and Anya, although he tries to interpret these feelings as part of his mission. The manga showed this particularly clearly when he prioritized Yor's safety over his own, something that contradicts his extremely calculating behavior as Twilight. Yor also faces internal conflicts. She entered into the marriage of convenience, but her feelings for Loid have become genuine. At the same time, she remains torn between her family life and her identity as an assassin.
Anya perhaps has the most delicate emotional conflict: she has finally found a family she wants to keep, but knows her entire family is built on lies. Her fear of being abandoned makes her constantly try to help Loid and Yor, even without fully understanding the adults' problems. Fiona faces her own conflict between professional duty and feelings for Loid, while Yuri remains extremely suspicious of Loid and simultaneously hides his work at the SSS from Yor.
Finally, there's a bigger problem behind it all: nobody knows exactly how this enormous web of secrets will end. If the true identities are revealed, the family could fall apart, Loid could clash with the SSS, Yor could discover Loid's profession, and Anya could lose the very people she loves most. Meanwhile, peace between the countries continues to depend on people who constantly live hiding who they really are. And, in the most recent chapters, the closeness between Anya and Donovan further increases the tension of Operation Strix.
External and Internal Problems Part 1
The biggest external problem in SPY × FAMILY is the fragility of the peace between Westalis and Ostania. Both countries carry the trauma of a previous war and remain involved in espionage, counter-espionage, propaganda, and surveillance. Westalis' WISE tries to prevent a new war from happening, while Ostania's SSS seeks to eliminate foreign threats and agents. This political environment is precisely the reason why Operation Strix exists.
Wikipedia +1
Within this conflict is Donovan Desmond, an extremely influential politician and Twilight's main target. The problem is that Donovan is reserved, difficult to access, and remains shrouded in mystery. Even with Anya's progress at Eden Academy, Loid is still far from completing his mission. Recent events have made Donovan even more important, revealing extraordinary aspects of his condition and deepening the mystery surrounding his true intentions. Another external problem is the existence of various organizations and groups that could threaten stability: the SSS, WISE, the Garden, criminal groups, extremists, and individuals interested in provoking conflict. The very existence of these organizations means that Loid, Yor, and other characters constantly live surrounded by political and personal risks. Internally, the biggest problem is that the Forger family was built on secrets. Loid is Twilight and initially believes that Anya and Yor are merely necessary instruments for her mission. Yor is secretly the assassin known as the Princess of Thorns. Anya is a telepath and knows their secrets, but they don't know that she can read minds. Bond also possesses his own ability to foresee events. Therefore, practically the entire family lives hiding their true nature.
Strix Mission Part 2
From there, Operation Strix requires Anya to excel academically, earn Stella Stars, and eventually become an Imperial Scholar. Meanwhile, Loid must prevent her from accumulating Toners, as well as keep the fake family functioning without revealing his identity.
The problem is that the mission becomes increasingly complicated because all the family members have secrets: Loid is a spy, Yor is an assassin, and Anya is a telepath. Anya is the only one who knows all three secrets and frequently uses her telepathy to prevent the others from discovering each other's true identities.
Although it began as a purely strategic operation, living together leads Loid, Yor, and Anya to develop genuine bonds. Thus, Operation Strix ceases to be just a spy mission for Loid and begins to involve the building of a family that, despite initially being fake, gradually begins to become real.
Strix Mission Part 1
Operation Strix is the main mission of Loid Forger, the Westalisian spy known as Twilight, and forms the central axis of Spy × Family. It is created by WISE, the Westalisian intelligence organization, with the objective of preserving peace between Westalis and Ostania and preventing political tensions between the two countries from escalating into war again.
The main target of the operation is Donovan Desmond, leader of the National Unity Party of Ostania and an extremely influential political figure. Desmond is known for being reclusive and rarely appearing in public. Therefore, WISE concludes that Twilight needs to get close to him to discover his true intentions and determine if he is planning any action that could threaten the peace.
To achieve this, Twilight receives an unusual mission: he needs to build a fake family, enroll a child in the prestigious Eden Academy, and have them achieve the status of Imperial Scholar. This title would allow the child to participate in exclusive school events attended by children of important families, including Desmond's son, Damian Desmond. In this way, Twilight intends to create an opportunity to get closer to Donovan. To execute the plan, Twilight adopts a girl named Anya, who secretly possesses the ability to read minds. He believes she is an ordinary child. Anya, however, immediately discovers that her new father is a spy by reading her mind and decides to hide this knowledge. Later, Twilight needs a wife to complete the appearance of a traditional family. He meets Yor Briar, who accepts a marriage of convenience to avoid suspicion about her personal life. Unaware that Yor is secretly the assassin known as the Princess of Thorns, Loid begins to live with her and Anya as the Forger family.
Yuri's secret identity and past
Yuri Briar possesses a secret identity carefully hidden from his own sister, Yor. Publicly, he claims to work at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ostania, but his true occupation is as a lieutenant in the State Security Service (SSS), the organization responsible for investigating threats against the state, conducting counter-espionage operations, and pursuing suspected spies. Yuri keeps this job secret mainly because he doesn't want Yor to worry or discover the dangerous and controversial nature of his profession.
His past is deeply intertwined with his relationship with Yor. When they were both children, their parents died, and Yor took on the sole responsibility of caring for her younger brother. Because Yuri was so young, Yor worked from a young age to ensure food, shelter, and safety for both of them. This difficult period caused Yuri to develop immense admiration and an extremely strong attachment to his sister, whom he considers his greatest role model and the most important person in his life.
Because of the hardships they faced, Yuri grew up wanting to repay everything Yor had done for him. Later, he managed to join the SSS and began defending Ostania with great dedication and patriotism. His secret role also explains his skills as an investigator and interrogator, as well as his persistence and distrust of potential enemies of the state.
Ironically, Yuri is completely unaware of Yor's secret identity as the Princess of Thorns, just as she is unaware of her true role in the SSS. Furthermore, he also doesn't know that his brother-in-law, Loid Forger, is actually Twilight, a spy for Westalis. Thus, Yuri lives surrounded by family secrets while trying to protect Yor and faithfully serve the State of Ostania.
Yuri's appearance
Yuri Briar, from Spy × Family, is a stylish and well-presented young adult with features that visually resemble his older sister, Yor. He has a relatively tall stature, a slender build, and a lean but healthy and well-conditioned physique. His everyday appearance conveys a polite, professional, and reliable image, although his expressions can change drastically depending on the situation.
Her face is thin and has youthful, delicate features, with a moderately defined jawline. Yuri has large, expressive red eyes, a trait she shares with Yor. Normally, her gaze appears serious or focused, especially while working, but it can become extremely intense, suspicious, irritated, or overly enthusiastic when Loid or her sister are involved.
Her hair is black, short, and straight, with neatly styled strands and a distinctive fringe that falls over part of her forehead. The hairstyle is simple and well-groomed, matching her formal and professional appearance.
In his daily life, Yuri usually wears elegant business attire, especially suits befitting his public role as an employee of the Ostania Ministry of Foreign Affairs. His clothing generally has a discreet and organized appearance. When secretly working as an agent for the State Security Service (SSS), he wears the organization's distinctive uniform, consisting of a dark, formal military coat or suit.
In general, Yuri has a youthful, refined, and serious appearance, which contrasts with her exaggerated emotional reactions. Her look conveys discipline and professionalism, while her red eyes and black hair reinforce her visual resemblance to Yor Briar.
Yuri's Personality
Yuri Briar, from Spy × Family, possesses an intense, emotional personality, primarily marked by his deep bond with his older sister, Yor. Since childhood, Yuri has been cared for and protected by her after the loss of their parents, leading him to develop an extremely strong admiration and emotional dependence on her. He sincerely loves Yor and considers her the most important person in his life, constantly wanting to ensure her safety and happiness. However, this attachment also makes Yuri excessively protective and suspicious of anyone who gets close to her, especially Loid Forger.
In Loid's presence, Yuri displays an immediate rivalry. He suspects his brother-in-law's intentions and constantly tries to find out if the marriage is genuine. Even so, he needs to hide his own profession, as Yuri doesn't know that he secretly works for the Ostania State Security Service, the SSS.
Despite his typically impulsive, dramatic, and easily irritable personality when it comes to Yor, Yuri is surprisingly competent and determined in his work. As an SSS agent, he manages to act seriously, persistently, and professionally, demonstrating great skill in investigations and interrogations. His patriotism and loyalty to Ostania are very strong, although his views on enemies of the state can be rigid and inflexible.
Yuri also possesses a rather naive side in relation to his own sister, being unable to perceive her true identity as the Princess of Thorns. Deep down, he is an extremely loyal and dedicated person: his personality combines emotional intensity, jealousy, impulsiveness, and humor with a genuine determination to protect Yor and fulfill what he believes to be his duty.
Fiona's secret identity and past
Fiona Frost is the public identity used by an elite agent of the Westalis intelligence organization, WISE. Her real name is not revealed, and within the world of espionage, she operates under the codename Nightfall. As a spy, her true profession and connection to WISE are kept in absolute secrecy, allowing her to infiltrate Ostania and carry out missions without raising suspicion.
Her known past is directly linked to WISE and her training as an agent. Before becoming the experienced spy known as Nightfall, Fiona underwent rigorous training, being taught to control her emotions and not allow personal feelings to interfere with her missions. Loid Forger, the Twilight, played an important role in her development as an agent, and it was during this period that Fiona began to develop deep romantic feelings for him.
Because of her training, Fiona has learned to maintain a cold, serious, and virtually emotionless demeanor. However, her inner thoughts reveal a completely different person: she is intensely in love with Loid and constantly imagines a life with him. Even so, her devotion to the mission and to WISE remains a fundamental part of her identity.
Fiona primarily operates in covert operations within Ostania, using false identities and various disguises when necessary. During Operation Strix, she even considers replacing Yor as Loid's wife to become a more efficient partner for him, but her participation remains limited by the needs of the mission.
Therefore, Fiona's secret identity is not just Nightfall: her public life itself is a carefully constructed facade to conceal her true existence as one of WISE's most competent and disciplined spies.
Fiona Frost/Nightfall's appearance
Fiona Frost, also known by the codename Nightfall, is an elegant, discreet, and naturally attractive adult woman. She possesses a relatively tall stature, a slender body, and an athletic build, the result of her rigorous training as a WISE agent. Her figure is well-defined, but her appearance usually conveys primarily professionalism, sobriety, and self-control.
Her face has fine, delicate features, with a generally serious and expressionless appearance. Fiona maintains, most of the time, a cold, neutral, or concentrated expression, a characteristic that matches her reserved personality and her training to not show emotions. Her eyes are light, usually depicted in a shade of blue, and her gaze can appear penetrating, tired, or distant.
Her hair is short, black, with an elegant cut that reaches approximately neck length. The strands are straight and have a long side fringe that frames part of her face, contributing to her refined and professional appearance. Her hairstyle usually remains neat, without excesses or flashy elements.
In her civilian identity, Fiona usually wears formal work attire, primarily suits and business suits in discreet colors. Her look is understated and functional, reflecting her preference for practicality. As a WISE agent, she also uses different outfits and disguises depending on the needs of each mission.
Her overall appearance conveys coolness, elegance, and competence. Although physically delicate at first glance, Fiona possesses a conditioned body and great physical stamina. When she is with Loid or in situations involving her feelings, her outward expression remains controlled, although her intense emotions remain hidden behind her seemingly impassive face.
Fiona Frost/Nightfall's personality
Fiona Frost, known by the codename Nightfall, possesses an extremely controlled, disciplined, and professional personality. As a WISE agent, she was trained to hide her emotions and maintain a cold, impassive expression in virtually any situation. On missions, she is serious, logical, efficient, and highly dedicated, rigorously following the principles of espionage. Her emotionally distant appearance, however, hides feelings far more intense than she lets on.
Fiona harbors a deep passion for Loid Forger, her colleague at the organization and the man who trained her during part of her career. She deeply admires his abilities and desires to be recognized by him as an ideal partner, both professionally and personally. However, Fiona is unable to openly demonstrate the intensity of her feelings. Outwardly, she remains calm and indifferent; inwardly, her thoughts are extremely emotional, possessive, competitive, and often exaggerated.
Her greatest personal rivalry is with Yor Forger. Fiona believes she would be a more suitable wife for Loid and a more efficient mother for Anya, constantly imagining ways to replace Yor within the Forger family. Despite this, her obsession with Loid doesn't diminish her professionalism: she remains an exceptionally competent spy and puts the mission above her feelings when necessary.
Fiona is also extremely demanding of herself and possesses great physical and mental resilience. She endures pain, fatigue, and pressure without showing weakness, always striving to reach a near-perfect standard. Ultimately, her personality is built on a contrast: on the outside, Fiona is the cold and imperturbable Nightfall; on the inside, she is an intensely passionate, jealous woman determined to achieve what she desires, especially Loid's attention and recognition.
Yor/Wild Rose's past and secret identity
Yor Forger's past, originally known as Yor Briar, is directly linked to her life as a professional assassin. At a young age, Yor lost her parents and had to take on the responsibility of caring for her younger brother, Yuri. Without family support, she joined a secret organization called Garden, where she worked as an assassin under the codename Princess of Thorns. Her skill in eliminating targets made her one of the organization's most efficient agents.
Yor's identity as an assassin is completely secret. To society, she leads a seemingly ordinary life as a city hall employee in Berlint. However, when she receives a mission from the Garden, she transforms into the Princess of Thorns and uses her extraordinary physical and combat skills to accomplish the assigned tasks. Yor is guided and receives orders through the Shopkeeper, a figure of great authority within the organization.
Her main initial reason for continuing to work as an assassin was to ensure a safe and stable life for Yuri. Even after he grew up and became independent, Yuri continued in this profession, initially believing that abandoning her secret life could put them both in danger.
Later, Yor accepts a sham marriage with Loid Forger and becomes Anya's adoptive mother. Although the union began for practical reasons and to preserve her social standing, her family comes to have genuine meaning for her. Yor continues to hide her true identity from Loid and Anya, while they also conceal their own secrets. Thus, she lives divided between her quiet life as Yor Forger and her dangerous identity as the Princess of Thorns, seeking to protect the family she has learned to love.
Appearance of Yor/Wild Rose
Yor Forger, from Spy × Family, is an elegant, striking, and naturally attractive adult woman. She possesses a tall stature, a slender body, and an extremely athletic physique, although her strength and conditioning are far beyond what her everyday appearance suggests. Her silhouette is feminine and well-defined, but her overall look maintains a discreet and refined elegance.
Her face has delicate and harmonious features, with a relatively elongated shape and an expression that can vary between calm, shy, serious, or surprisingly intense. Her eyes are large and expressive, red in color, a characteristic that stands out strongly on her face. Yor has long, straight, black hair with a short, parted fringe that frames her forehead. Most of the time, her hair falls down her back and over her shoulders, reaching approximately her lower back.
Like Yor Forger, she usually wears elegant clothes appropriate for her everyday life. One of her best-known looks is a long-sleeved red dress, paired with simple accessories and black boots. In formal situations, she also wears dresses and sophisticated outfits.
As the assassin Princess of Thorns, her appearance becomes instantly recognizable. She wears an elegant, strapless black dress with a short skirt and gold details, along with long black gloves, dark stockings, and black heeled boots. Her hair is complemented by a gold headband and a red rose-shaped accessory.
Overall, Yor projects an image of beauty, elegance, and serenity, but this appearance contrasts sharply with her impressive physical strength and intimidating presence when she springs into action as an assassin.
Yor/Wild Rose Personality
Yor Forger's personality in Spy × Family is marked by a contrasting combination of gentleness, shyness, naiveté, and a frighteningly efficient ability when she assumes her secret identity as a professional assassin. In her everyday life, Yor is a polite, kind woman who genuinely cares about those close to her, especially Anya and Loid. She can be socially awkward and insecure, having difficulty understanding some common situations and often worrying excessively about the opinions of others.
Yor possesses a rather exaggerated imagination in certain situations, especially when she fears her secret life will be discovered. This sometimes leads her to jump to conclusions and interpret normal events as threats or dangers. Despite her naiveté in social and romantic matters, she is extremely determined when she believes she needs to protect someone.
Her relationship with Anya reveals her more caring and maternal side. Initially, Yor accepts the sham marriage with Loid for practical reasons, but quickly develops genuine feelings for her new family. She desires to be a good wife and mother, although she often doubts her own abilities and doesn't know exactly how to fulfill those roles.
When working as Princess of Thorns, Yor demonstrates a clear change in behavior. She becomes cold, focused, confident, and extremely professional. She finds no pleasure in killing out of cruelty; she sees her work as something necessary and as a way to protect Yuri and, later, the peaceful life she has built with the Forgers.
Deep down, Yor is a kind person who lives divided between two completely different lives. His greatest motivation is to protect those he loves, even though he is still learning to understand what it means to have a real family.
Anya's past and powers
Anya Forger is a child with a mysterious and painful past, marked mainly by experiences she prefers not to fully reveal. Before being adopted by Loid, she was known as Test Subject 007 and was part of a secret experiment conducted by an unknown organization or laboratory. It was in this context that she developed her main and extraordinary power: telepathy, that is, the ability to read people's thoughts. As far as the story reveals, the exact origin of her powers and the complete identity of those responsible for the experiments remain shrouded in mystery.
Telepathy allows Anya to hear the thoughts of those close to her, giving her access to information, intentions, and secrets that would normally be impossible to know. However, her power has important limitations. Because Anya is still a child and does not have full control over her ability, excessive or complex thoughts can confuse her. Furthermore, she temporarily loses the ability to use telepathy during the new moon, a phenomenon she calls her "eclipse" phase.
Her past before the Forger family was also marked by instability. Anya lived in an orphanage and was adopted and returned more than once before meeting Loid. This contributed to her strong fear of being abandoned and her desire to keep her new family together.
Although she lacks the physical strength or special training comparable to the adults around her, Anya uses her childlike intelligence, creativity, and telepathy to help Loid and Yor. Her greatest power, however, is also an absolute secret: no member of her family knows that she can read minds.
Anya's Appearance
Anya Forger's appearance in Spy × Family is immediately recognizable due to her childlike appearance and striking features. She is a small girl, short in stature, with a delicate, childlike body consistent with her age. She has fair skin and a round face with soft, expressive features capable of easily conveying emotions such as joy, surprise, fear, confusion, irritation, and enthusiasm.
Her eyes are large and striking, depicted in an emerald-green hue, with pupils and details characteristic of the series' visual style. They are extremely expressive and constitute one of the most striking features of her face. Her hair is short, light pink, cut approximately at neck length, with ends slightly turned outwards and an uneven fringe over her forehead.
Another inseparable element of her look are the two black and gold accessories positioned on the sides of her head, near her ears. These ornaments have a characteristic shape that resembles small horns or cones and are part of her most well-known appearance, remaining present in a large part of her outfits.
Her Eden Academy uniform is her most iconic look: a black dress with gold details, a white shirt underneath, a red tie or bow, white socks, and dark shoes. On different occasions, Anya wears various casual outfits, but generally keeps her pink hair and signature accessories.
Overall, her appearance perfectly matches her personality: small, cute, and seemingly innocent, but with an expression capable of revealing a huge range of thoughts and emotions, making her one of the most visually distinctive characters in Spy × Family.
Anya's personality
Anya Forger's personality in Spy × Family is a striking mix of childlike innocence, curiosity, mischief, and great emotional expressiveness. As a young child, Anya possesses an active imagination and a still limited understanding of the adult world, often interpreting serious situations in a funny way or completely different from reality. She is especially fascinated by espionage, adventures, mysteries, and anything she finds exciting, mainly because her adoptive father, Loid, is secretly a spy.
Her most unusual trait is telepathy: Anya can read the thoughts of the people around her. This allows her to know information that a child wouldn't normally know, but, lacking the maturity of an adult, she doesn't always correctly interpret what she hears. Despite this, she uses her ability to try and help Loid and Yor, especially when she realizes that her father's mission could put the family at risk.
Anya is very attached to her family and has a strong desire to continue living with Loid and Yor. Therefore, many of her actions are motivated by the fear of being abandoned again. She wants to be useful and make her parents happy, although her attempts often end up causing confusion. She can also be stubborn, impulsive, lazy, and quite mischievous, especially when she needs to study.
Despite her limitations and childish behavior, Anya demonstrates courage, empathy, and a genuine concern for the people she loves. Her greatest characteristic is precisely this combination of naiveté and determination: she may not fully understand the world, but she always wants to protect the family she has finally found.
Loid's secret identity and past
Loid Forger's secret identity is Twilight, one of the most skilled and renowned agents of the Westalis spy organization, WISE. His real name is unknown, and "Loid Forger" is just one of the many false identities he uses on his missions. As Twilight, his main function is to gather information, infiltrate organizations, and prevent conflicts that could threaten the fragile peace between Westalis and Ostania. To do this, he is skilled in disguise, identity manipulation, espionage, combat, and intelligence gathering.
Twilight's past is deeply intertwined with war. As a child, he lived in a region that was devastated by the conflict. At that time, his father disappeared after being sent to war, and young Twilight ended up losing important people and seeing his life destroyed by the violence. Initially, he was led to believe that certain events involving his family had a different explanation, but later he understood the cruel reality of war.
These experiences had a decisive impact on his life. He grew determined to help prevent future wars, especially because he wanted to create a world where children wouldn't have to suffer the same losses he did. Before becoming Twilight, he served as a soldier and was later recruited to work as a spy.
Because of his training, he learned to hide his feelings and treat his own identity as something secondary. However, his relationship with Yor and Anya gradually begins to challenge this view, making the false family ties of the mission become increasingly real to him.
Loid/Twilight's appearance
Loid Forger, also known by his spy identity Twilight, is an elegant, attractive, and extremely well-presented adult male. He possesses a tall, slender body with an athletic and well-conditioned physique, the result of his intense training as a spy, although his musculature usually remains discreet under his clothing. His posture is naturally erect, confident, and refined, conveying seriousness, control, and professionalism.
His face has masculine and harmonious features, with a relatively thin shape and a well-defined jawline. Loid has light eyes, usually depicted in shades of blue, with an attentive, penetrating, and often serious gaze. His hair is blond, short, and carefully styled, featuring a characteristic fringe that falls over his forehead and strands slightly styled at the sides. His hair has an organized look, but not excessively rigid, matching his sophisticated appearance.
As Loid Forger, his most recognizable look consists of formal and elegant clothing, especially a dark olive-green suit, light dress shirt, and red tie. He usually complements the outfit with dress shoes, always maintaining an impeccable appearance. In other situations, he wears casual or sporty clothes, or different disguises suited to his missions.
His overall appearance conveys intelligence, maturity, elegance, and reliability. Even when relaxed, Loid maintains a composed and distinguished presence, a trait that perfectly matches his secret identity as Twilight, a master of disguise capable of altering his appearance when necessary.
Loid/Twilight's personality
Loid Forger's personality, also known as Twilight, is marked by a complex combination of intelligence, self-control, pragmatism, and a kindness that he himself often tries to hide. As one of Westalis's best spies, Loid is extremely observant, calculating, and adaptable, capable of quickly analyzing people and situations and creating efficient plans even under pressure. He maintains a calm, polite, and rational demeanor, rarely allowing his emotions to directly interfere with his decisions.
Initially, Loid sees the creation of the Forger family primarily as a necessary mission to achieve his goals as a spy. Therefore, he tries to justify his actions as simple professional strategies. However, as he spends time with Anya and Yor, he demonstrates that his concern for them becomes increasingly genuine. Even without easily admitting his feelings, he is protective, responsible, and capable of putting the well-being of his family above his own comfort.
Loid also possesses a strong sense of responsibility and a deep aversion to war, motivated by the painful experiences of his past. His goal of creating a world where children don't have to suffer from conflict reveals his more idealistic and compassionate side. Despite being an excellent liar and master of disguise, he doesn't always manage to understand simple or unpredictable emotions, especially when they involve Anya and Yor.
Ultimately, Loid is a man who tries to act like a perfect tool, but gradually discovers the value of having a family and creating true bonds.
