These stories became the future he secretly envisioned for himself .

At age 14, Ajax fled his monotonous home life with nothing but a shortsword and a bag of bread. Lost in a snowy forest, pursued by bears and wolves, he fell into a bottomless crack in the earth and discovered an ancient, dark realm — the Abyss . There, he met a mysterious swordswoman named Skirk, who took him as her apprentice . For three months (though only three days passed in the real world), she taught him to survive the Abyss and nurtured his talent for stirring up havoc .

When his family found him, he was no longer the same frightened boy — he had become frivolous, confident, and incapable of resisting conflict. After a particularly destructive brawl, his father sent him to the Fatui, hoping military discipline would tame his temper. Instead, Ajax single-handedly defeated a squad of armed warriors . This caught the attention of Pulcinella (the 5th Harbinger), who inducted Ajax into the Fatui, ordering him to start from the bottom and serve the Tsaritsa .
