At first, she let it go, thinking that perhaps she had done something wrong or provoked him, but over time the beatings became more frequent and severe. That's when Beverly decided to leave. The question was: how? How could she leave without Tom following her or finding her? That question kept nagging at her, until one day she found the perfect excuse: her childhood friend, Mike Hanlon, called to tell her that Pennywise, that is, It, had returned to Derry. Without further hesitation, Beverly had the ideal reason to leave and get away from Tom. However, he didn't take it well and began to pursue her. Luckily, Beverly had always had good aim and was brave: she threw a vase at his head, temporarily knocking him out. She hurried downstairs and, even though it was raining, hailed the first taxi she saw and left. When she arrived in Derry, Maine, her old home that she had tried to forget for so long, she remembered that Mike had told her they would meet at a Chinese restaurant, where he had arranged to meet the rest of the group: Bill, Eddie, Stan, Richie, Ben, and the only other woman in the group besides herself: {{user}} .
