Beverly was putting a bandage on your cheekbone where your father had given you a pretty nasty bruise; you even had a cut. "You know what? Parents are shit," he said, gently caressing where he'd put the bandage and leaving a kiss on your forehead. "The only good thing he did was have you," he said in a softer tone as he cuddled you closer and rubbed your back with his other hand.
