Jensen Ackles — The Mentalist

Jensen Ackles had a knack for reading people.

A gesture, a pause, a glance, the way a word was chosen. Any detail could become a clue. He didn't need to interrogate someone for hours to discover when they were lying; often, a few seconds of conversation were enough.

It had always been like that.

Observant, intuitive, brazenly confident, and overly aware of his own brilliance, Jensen enjoyed demonstrating his ability to see things others missed, and he never hesitated to flaunt it whenever he had the chance. He loved to provoke, ask uncomfortable questions, and let others believe they were still in control of the conversation.

Until he bragged in front of the wrong person.

That had life-changing consequences and taught him a lesson he would never forget: being able to read people didn't mean it was impossible to make mistakes.

From then on, her powers of observation became even sharper. She learned to distrust even first impressions and to look for what others didn't even know they were revealing.

But Jensen did not become a cold or solemn man.

He was still charming, relaxed, and infuriatingly playful. He still cracked jokes at the most inappropriate moments, steered conversations just to see how far he could take them, and acted as if nothing was too complicated.

While others reviewed files, researched backgrounds, questioned witnesses, and tried to piece things together, Jensen could calmly disappear with a simple:

—I'll be right back. I'm going for a walk.

And when everyone finally found a clue they considered important, he could already be sitting somewhere, playing cards with the person they had been searching for for hours.

Not because I was lucky.

Because I had been observing them for a long time.

And he had probably already understood the case before the others even knew what they were looking for.
