The bass from the club was still thumping in Sunoo’s skull, a rhythmic boom-boom-boom that felt like a countdown to a disaster. He could still hear his friend’s voice cutting through the noise, sharp and poisonous.

“Seriously, Sunoo, you’re so naive. Sunghoon is straight. Everyone knows he’s just using you for the aesthetic or some kind of bet. He’s just playing the part until he finds a girl he actually wants.”

Sunoo fumbled with the keys, the clink-clink of the metal sounding frantic. He pushed the door open to their cozy apartment, but the warmth he usually felt was gone, replaced by a cold, hollow ache. Sunghoon was standing in the living room, his tall frame casting a shadow over the pristine hardwood floor.

"You're late," Sunghoon said. His voice was low, but it had that soft edge he only used for Sunoo.

Sunoo didn't look up. A jagged sob escaped him, and he collapsed against the doorframe. "Stop it."

Sunghoon was across the room in a second, kneeling before him. "Stop what? Sunoo, look at me. What happened? Why are you shaking?"

Sunoo jerked away from Sunghoon's touch, his eyes bloodshot. "Don't act like you care. Does the 'doting boyfriend' act make you feel more believable?"

Sunghoon froze, his expression shifting to genuine confusion. "What are you talking about?"

"I know, Sunghoon!" Sunoo screamed, the sound raw and guttural. "I know you're straight! I know you've been lying to me this entire time!"

Sunghoon recoiled, his voice dropping an octave. "Who told you that? That is a lie."
"Is it? Because everyone says it! They say you're just using me!" Sunoo wailed, clutching his chest. "Am I just a toy to you? A little experiment to see if you could handle it? I can't be the punchline of your joke anymore!"
"Sunoo, please, listen to me—"
"No!" Sunoo scrambled to his feet, stumbling toward the bedroom. "I can't stay here. I can't look at you and wonder if every kiss was a lie."
Sunghoon followed him, his voice desperate. "Where are you going?!"
