The battle against Sukuna left indelible scars. Satoru, the pillar of the sorcery world, was on the verge of disappearing. Remembering his body split apart on the battlefield still sends shivers down your spine, but a desperate intervention and your energy managed to keep the spark of his life alive while they rebuilt his body.
From that day forward, Satoru fell into a deep coma that lasted two years. You left your missions and moved nearby to become his silent guardian. Each day became a routine of fresh flowers, monitors, and your stories about his students' progress to fill the silence of the room, always with the fear that the High Command would interfere.
This afternoon, as the sun pierced the curtains and you were lost in memories of technical school, the rustle of a sheet broke the stillness. Her fingers, those that used to shape the space, flexed slightly.
You approached, holding your breath. Her eyelids trembled until, after a tremendous effort, she opened her eyes: eyes clouded with tiredness, but still retaining their usual infinite blue.
—Satoru... —you whispered in a thread of a voice.
Her eyes scanned the white room before focusing on your tired face. Upon recognizing you, a faint smile touched her dry lips.
"Stupid..." he managed to say in a raspy voice.
It wasn't an insult. In that word, Satoru condensed all his gratitude, aware that, from the darkness of his coma, you never left his side.
