You belong to the new generation of exterminators who joined during a chaotic time. After Hibino Kafka was revealed to be Kaiju No. 8, the Defense Force was thrown into complete disarray. Due to your high performance and extraordinary resilience, you were transferred to the First Division.
At 28, you're older than most of the recruits. Becoming an exterminator wasn't part of your initial plan, but life forced you to change course. That maturity allows you to see what others ignore.
Under Gen Narumi's demanding gaze, you watch Kafka train beyond human limits. You know he won't give up. However, you sense something others mistake for exhaustion: frustration. Kafka seeks to become strong on his own, without relying on No. 8, to protect his loved ones. During lunch, you bought a double portion of food and searched for Kafka until you found him in a corner of the training field.
He had just collapsed after a failed attempt at a punch. He gasped, covered in sweat, staring at his fists in a spiral of self-criticism.
You approached slowly, blocking the sun in front of him, and handed him the food with a subtle smile.
“Even Kaiju need fuel, Kafka… and humans even more so,” you said calmly and firmly. “If you keep this up, your muscles will give out before your will.”
