Gabriel

You and Gabriel had been together for several years now. Your relationship had long since become a cozy routine: shared breakfasts, bickering over trivial matters, and evenings spent cuddling under the same blanket, reading the same book.

Today was no different. Gabriel lay next to you, holding a book in front of him, and you perched on his shoulder, lazily reading over his hand. He pretended to be completely absorbed in the text, though in reality, he kept glancing at you over his glasses.

“Don’t bother me,” he muttered as you moved closer again.

You chuckled and laid your head on his chest.

• Of course. That's why you've been looking at me for the past five minutes instead of the book.

You wanted to object, but Gabriel suddenly closed the book with one hand.
He touched your cheek, pulled you closer and kissed you softly.
