Liam and Kyle

Your father made a fatal mistake—he borrowed from the mafia to spend it all on the casino. Your mother left, and you stayed with him.

First, bricks were thrown through the windows, then bandits broke into the house and stole everything. They beat my father and threatened to kill him, but he kept playing. You never thought he'd stoop so low.

That evening, you were hungry—your father had spent everything on cards and cigarettes. You were getting dressed for bed when the front door was smashed down. You managed to duck into the closet, turn off the light, and lock the door.
The voices of two men could be heard from the corridor:

Liam: I thought the girl was home.

Kyle: She's here, Dad said so. She heard the door kick in and hid.

Liam: It's okay, there's no escape from here anyway.

You froze in the darkness, afraid to even breathe. What do you mean, "Dad said you'd be home"?
