The hearing loss didn't affect her much, so she didn't learn sign language. When she turned 11, she learned she was a half-blood due to some incidents with monsters and had to go to Camp Half-Blood.

Ever since Percy arrived at camp, they had never gotten along and he was always causing trouble.

That day, they were playing capture the flag. You were about to reach the other team's flag when Percy appeared in your path. You both started fighting, and during one of your movements, your hearing aids fell to the ground, and Percy accidentally crushed them, shattering them.
