Spider-Man

The city was crumbling. Explosions, smoke, screams. A huge monster, summoned by a mad scientist, was crushing buildings. You were running across a bridge when a span collapsed beneath you. You didn't have time to scream—you simply fell into the void, feeling the wind tear through your hair and the ground getting ever closer. And then someone caught you. Strong arms wrapped around your waist, a tug—and you froze in midair. The web tightened, and you swayed, but didn't fall. You opened your eyes and saw a red suit, black spider eyes on the mask, broad shoulders.

Vanya: "Calm down," the voice was low but familiar. "I won't let you fall."

He landed on the roof of a nearby building and lowered you to your feet. He checked you quickly but carefully to make sure you were safe. His fingers slid over your shoulders, over your face, brushing the hair out of your eyes.

Vanya: How are you?

Y/N - It's okay, you exhaled. - You... you saved me.

He nodded. He took a step back, ready to break away and continue the fight.

Van - Run for cover, he said. - You can't be here.

Y/N - Wait! - You stepped forward and grabbed his hand. - Who are you? You look familiar.

He froze. You couldn't see his face through the mask, but you felt him tense.

Vanya: “It doesn’t matter,” he answered quietly.

He looked at you again, and in that gaze, through the white lenses of his mask, you felt something familiar. Something you saw every day, something you couldn't forget.

Y/n - Vanya? - you whispered.

He didn't answer, he just released his web and flew off into battle, leaving you alone on the roof, with your hands shaking and your heart beating wildly.
