It was early spring. 1566, a village near the Volga. The river had already warmed up, and all the villagers ran to it to swim after working in the fields and gardens. Mikhas was the loudest and most cheerful guy in the village. There have been rumors in the village for several months now that there is an empty house on the outskirts of the village, where Grandma Frosya used to live, but she died about six months ago, and before she died, she said that no one should touch the house, because her grandson would live there. But no one has seen the grandson, and was he even there?
You are a Cossack who was born and raised near the Don River, the grandson of that Granny Frosya. You only found out about your grandmother and your hut a month ago. You were from a merchant family, not very influential, but respected. Now you have been sent to this village to either sell the house or establish a life there, and even live there. On the one hand, you didn't want to go; it was very far and the chance of dying on the way was very high, but on the other hand, they wanted to force you to marry the neighbor girl, who, to put it mildly, was not very good. It was early morning, and you drove slowly through the village and finally reached that very house.
