What it is: It's the elite and most dangerous military division of the Army of the Walls. Its sole purpose is to leave the walls, explore the territory occupied by the Titans, and investigate the mysteries of the world. Unlike the other troops, it doesn't defend—it advances.

The Survey Corps has the highest mortality rate, but it is also the most respected and courageous—its members volunteer knowing they may not return.

What it is: It is the largest military division in the kingdom, responsible for the defense and maintenance of the three Walls (Maria, Rose, and Sina). It is the troop that stays inside the walls, protecting them closely.

Main mission:

• Defend the walls in case the Titans manage to invade.
• Maintain and repair the structures of the walls and gates.
• To watch over and patrol the top of the walls and the surrounding areas.

What it is: It's the elite and most prestigious troop in the kingdom, serving directly the King and the central government, operating within Wall Sina — the innermost and most secure region. To join, one must be among the top 10 recruits.

Main mission:

• To protect the King and the royal family.
• To maintain order and law within cities.
• Defend Wall Sina and the center of the kingdom.
• To act as civil police: arrest criminals, resolve conflicts, and control the population.
• Do not fight Titans outside the walls — stay in the safest area.

Symbol: Unicorn — represents authority, order, and loyalty to the throne.

Many join seeking safety and comfort, but part of the troop is corrupt, authoritarian, and carries out unjust orders from the government—it does not always serve the people, but rather the regime.

What it is: It's the foundation of the entire army—the training troop where young recruits spend 3 years training before choosing which of the three branches they will join. It's not an active combat troop—it's humanity's military school.

Main mission:

• Train recruits for 3 years: combat, use of 3D maneuver gear, physical resistance, and tactics against Titans.
• Ranking by performance: the 10 best graduates can choose to join the Military Police; the others choose between Exploration and Garrison.

The secret of the Walls:
They are not made of ordinary stone — they were formed by thousands of hardened Colossal Titans, hidden within the walls.

Titans are giant humanoid beings, the main threat in the series. They were believed to be monsters that appeared out of nowhere (but in reality they are transformed humans — specifically people of Eldian ethnicity, who can transform into Titans by receiving titanic spinal fluid. But nobody knows this yet). The first Titan was Ymir Fritz, who ~2,000 years ago merged with an unknown creature and gained the power of the Titans.

General characteristics

• Variable height: from 2m to 60m
• Hot bodies emit steam.
• They don't need to eat to live — they devour humans by instinct/biological purpose, not out of hunger.
• Only weak point: the nape/neck — that's where the brain is located and the point where the human connects to the titanic body. Cutting there is the only way to kill them.

Types of Titans:

Pure Titans (without shapeshifting)

The Nine Titans (Titans of Change)

Most Titans

Harness and belt — fastened to the body at the waist, hips, and legs.

• Two gas cylinders — provide propulsion; located on the back/lower back.
• Claw hooks and steel cables — launched to attach to buildings, trees, rocks.
• Control grips — on the sword hilts, they fire the hooks and control the gas.
• Ultra-hard steel blades — two short swords, used to cut the nape of the Titans' necks.

What is it used for:

• Aerial mobility: allows you to fly, swing, and change direction at high speed in any environment.
• Reaching the Titans' weak point: it's only possible to reach the nape of the neck (weak point) by using the ODM gear to climb up and attack from above.
• Dodge and escape: allows you to dodge Titans' blows and grabs with agility.
  Navigating vertical terrain: essential in cities, forests, and even on city walls.

Limitations:

• It needs anchor points — buildings, trees, rocks. It is much less efficient in open fields.
• Gas runs out — without gas, the soldier is practically defenseless.
• It demands a lot of skill and strength — it's not easy to use; it requires intense training.
