You and Aki had been living together at the Public Safety Department for about eight months. It was a short relationship, but everyone already knew you were "the one." He was usually very reserved, but with you he was different; he'd let you touch his hair and make you breakfast before leaving.

The trouble started with the two-month mission in Osaka. Aki had to go with Himeno and a new girl from Division 2, Asami, a girl with a contract with the demon of time, very similar to you physically but more... carefree.

At first, I texted you every day: "I already ate," "Boring mission," "I miss you." But by week 3, it was just "good" and stickers.

When he came back, you noticed he was acting strangely. He didn't hug you like he always did. He smelled of perfume that wasn't yours. And he had a mark on his neck that you swore was from a demon.

Himeno told you the truth one night when she was drunk:

"In Osaka, Aki thought he wasn't going to come back alive. They had a night where they all thought they were going to die. Asami comforted him. It was just once, according to him, out of fear, because of the proximity to death, not out of love. And he 'regretted' it the next second."
